Job Summary
We are seeking a meticulous and proactive Accountant to oversee the finance, accounting, and administration functions of our Group's affairs. This role is essential in managing the daily financial operations including payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable, as well as producing comprehensive financial reports and forecasts. The ideal candidate will have a robust understanding of accounting principles and be proficient in using the Xero platform. Additionally, this position will support the M&A Team by assisting with research and technology functions related to business development.
Responsibilities
Financial Management
Handle day-to-day accounting duties using the Xero platform, including payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
Take ownership of the 3-way budget and forecast for the group, ensuring accuracy and reliability in financial modeling.
Produce a monthly board pack detailing the previous month's performance, including comprehensive budget to actual reports and variance analyses.
Compliance and Reporting
Coordinate with the CFO to prepare for external audits and ensure compliance with all statutory obligations.
Manage the financial year-end processes and provide necessary details to external accountants for tax preparation and review.
Maintain a corporate calendar to track and flag compliance requirements and deadlines.
HR Administration and Support
Manage the administrative aspects of the HR function, ensuring all agreements are up-to-date and annual reviews are scheduled.
Liaise with senior management to support HR processes and ensure compliance with employment laws.
Business Development Support
Assist the M&A Team with the preparation of pitch decks, development of target lists, and other business development activities.
Enhance skills in using Salesforce and other third-party platforms to support business intelligence and data analytics initiatives.
Continuous Improvement and Training
Work with the Systems and Process Manager to develop a continuous improvement plan that may include self-study, professional development, and in-house training.
Requirements
Proven experience as an Accountant, with extensive knowledge of bookkeeping, financial reporting, and budgeting.
Proficiency in Xero accounting software and strong technology skills.
Excellent analytical abilities and attention to detail.
Strong organizational and time management skills, capable of managing multiple priorities.
Desirable
Experience in a similar role within the finance sector or a related industry.
Openness to engaging in commercial business research and technological advancements in finance.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
Professional accounting certification (CPA or CA) is preferred.
Time Zone: Australian Business Hours
