Position Overview :

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mainframe Developer with expertise in Cobol, IMS DB/DC, and other related technologies to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8 to 12 years of hands-on experience in IBM Mainframes environment, with proficiency in Cobol programming, JCL, IMS DB/DC, DB2, and knowledge of OPC. Experience with REXX scripting and z/OS Operating System is desirable.

As a Senior Mainframe Developer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining mission-critical applications on the mainframe platform, ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability.

Key Responsibilities :

Cobol Development :

- Develop, enhance, and maintain Cobol programs for various business applications running on IBM Mainframes.

- Write efficient and optimized Cobol code to meet functional requirements and performance objectives.

- Debug and troubleshoot Cobol programs to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.

JCL Programming :

- Create and modify JCL (Job Control Language) scripts for batch processing and job scheduling on z/OS systems.

- Define job streams, dependencies, and resource allocations in JCL to ensure smooth execution of batch jobs.

IMS DB/DC Development :

- Design and implement IMS (Information Management System) databases and online transaction processing (OLTP) applications.

- Develop IMS DB/DC programs using Cobol and IMS commands to interact with IMS databases and process transactions.

DB2 Integration :

- Interface with DB2 databases to retrieve and update data from Cobol programs via SQL queries and embedded SQL statements.

- Optimize database access and performance by tuning SQL queries and indexing strategies.

OPC Integration :

- Integrate mainframe batch jobs with OPC (Open System Automation Control) for job scheduling, monitoring, and automation.

- Configure job dependencies, triggers, and notifications in OPC to manage job execution according to business requirements.

REXX Scripting (Good to Have) :

- Develop REXX scripts to automate repetitive tasks, generate reports, and perform system utilities on z/OS systems.

- Utilize REXX language constructs and APIs to interact with system resources and external interfaces.

z/OS Operating System :

- Demonstrate proficiency in z/OS operating system concepts, utilities, and system management tasks.

- Monitor system performance, resource utilization, and batch job queues to ensure optimal operation of mainframe environment.

Qualifications and Skills :

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

- 8 to 12 years of hands-on experience in IBM Mainframes environment, with expertise in Cobol, JCL, IMS DB/DC, and DB2.

- Familiarity with OPC for job scheduling and automation is required.

- Experience with REXX scripting language is desirable.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug complex mainframe applications and resolve technical issues.

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

- Proven track record of delivering high-quality mainframe solutions within project deadlines.

- Certification in IBM Mainframe technologies (e.g. IBM Certified Application Developer) is a plus.
