Wavicle Data Solutions is seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Data Engineering to lead and manage our growing Data Engineering team.
As a Director, you will be responsible for driving the technical strategy, overseeing complex data projects, and delivering high-quality solutions that support our clients' business goals. This role requires a leader who is passionate about data, cloud technologies, and driving innovation in the data engineering space.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and manage the Data Engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Develop and execute the data engineering strategy in alignment with Wavicles overall business objectives and client needs.
- Drive the design, implementation, and optimization of data pipelines, architectures, and cloud-based data solutions (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Oversee large-scale data projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to best practices in data engineering and architecture.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Data Science, Analytics, Product, and Client Services, to deliver end-to-end data solutions.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and best practices in data engineering, cloud infrastructure, and data governance.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key clients and stakeholders, ensuring satisfaction and long-term partnership success.
- Manage budgets, resource allocation, and project timelines to ensure efficient delivery of services.
- Ensure the security, scalability, and efficiency of all data solutions.
Qualifications:
- 17+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or related fields, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing large-scale data solutions using cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Expertise in modern data architectures, ETL/ELT processes, data warehousing, and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
- Strong knowledge of SQL, Python, and/or other programming languages commonly used in data engineering.
- Experience with BI tools and platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Snowflake) is a plus.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a demonstrated ability to mentor and develop engineering talent.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including C-level executives.
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a consulting environment or leading data engineering initiatives for multiple clients.
- Familiarity with data strategy, data governance, security practices, and regulatory requirements in the data space.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a passion for driving continuous improvement.
