Roles & Responsibilities

Job Summary: Ti Cast Engineer VIM Shell Preparation Engineer will be responsible for completing activities related to Shell preparation for Melting and pouring of Castings on the VIM furnace as per the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). It includes the proper assembly, Inspection, Repair, Cleaning of the Shell, Visual inspection knockout after pouring, etc. Complete documentation of records related to the process as per the AS9100 norms to be maintained. Responsible for following Lean Manufacturing practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Co-ordinate with pre-cast and post-cast production teams for the preparation and readiness of molds for pouring as per the Method Card and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Assembly and Repair of Shells as per the type of Shell.
  • Handing over the Ready to Pour shell for Baking and Pouring after complete Visual Inspection.
  • Responsible for making the shell ready as per the pouring plan.
  • Ensure operator-level preventative maintenance is conducted on all equipment to ensure fault-free operation.
  • Liaise with the maintenance department for long-term maintenance planning and execution.
  • Ensure the Ti Cast facility is organized using 5S approaches.
  • Materials and resources should be appropriately planned for all repair activities
  • Manage the daily function and operation of Ti Cast melting and pouring.
  • Co-ordinate production requirements with support from the incubation head and production planning department.
  • Handle and facilitate the process and product-based NCRs for issues arising in the TiCast manufacturing system.
  • Plan appropriate levels and qualities of raw materials needed for the production of castings manufactured in VAR.
  • To ensure a safe work environment within the working area along with the safety officer, Quality, and Operation Head.
  • The Jobholder must ensure Product safety and prevent the FOD and Counterfeit parts in their concerned area.

The Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for this role shall be:

  • Ensuring the readiness of the shell as per the schedule of Pouring.
  • Efficiency and utilization of machines and resources.
  • Reduction in production lead times.
  • Minimization of Rejection, scrap, and rework.
  • Adherence to quality standards and specifications.
  • Continuous improvement (Kaizen) in processes.
  • Conducting the Six sigma & Cost Saving Projects

Ideal Qualifications:

B.Tech. (Mechanical/ Electrical or Electronic Engineering) or experience in a similar field

Authority

  • To hold any process or Job after consultation with the Reporting Manager/HOD in charge upon finding any discrepancy of incoming material/product.
  • To process the job after proper inspection to the next stage, need to discuss with Reporting Manager/HOD If reqd.
  • Signing on all production documents or inspection sheets.
  • Raising the NCR for any Quality related issue.
  • To give observations on audit findings.
  • To prepare indent for process & product-related requirements.
  • To update the data in the required format & ERP system.
  • To take necessary actions and disposition of nonconforming outputs after consultation with the reporting manager.
  • Responsible for providing on-the-job training on Quality/production-related topics to blue-collar/subordinates after getting self-trained on the subject matter.

Experience:

· Proven experience as a Ti Cast Engineer for Shell Preparation for Melting and Pouring or similar role in a manufacturing environment.

Technical / Functional Expertise & other competencies:

  • Proven experience of handling the Ceramic Shells for Melting and Pouring for Ti Castings
  • Experience with ERP software and proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing principles and best practices.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex situations.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity is preferred.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills (English + Hindi)
  • Aptitude to read technical information
  • Moderate level of general metallurgy and engineering requirements.
