Role Overview for the Senior Software Engineer:-The required Senior Software Engineer’s key tasks are to map out, coordinate, and oversee the activities for the design, development, and execution of Mainframe RED, TIBCO Substation ES application integration system and its Transactional Interfaces as well as the associated components, applications. The senior engineer’s job is also responsible for the maintenance, new development requirement, support, and upgrading of existing applications. The candidate needs to apply communication and analytical skills and knowledge of best practices to navigate customers on problems related to the product and application development.Responsibilities:-Development and contributing to the enhancement and maintenance of TIBCO Mainframe applications and the related systemsUnderstand software best practices, design strategy and planning, test case development, deployment and execution, and identify product defects, debug issues and have them reported into a defect tracking systemExperience working with Agile methodologiesWork with management and other teams to understand the requirements and features, and to translate them into development tasks and quality assurance testsWork independently, a self-starter that requires minimum supervisionDebug program failures and help identify the root cause of failuresDevelop and assist with automation test suites.Create and run manual tests for scenarios that are difficult to automateWork with remote teams, communicate status, schedules effectively and clearly.Escalate issues in time and have the ability to follow up for their statusAbility to think out of the box

Qualifications:-Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in developing software and applications on IBM platformsMinimum of 3-5 years of experience in IBM z/OS Assembler, macros and IBM DSECTSAn additional language such as C/C++, PLI or COBOL is requiredMinimum BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent skill setKnowledgeable in IBM Z systems and ISPF programmingMinimum of 3 years experience working with UNIX and or Windows systemsExperience in any scripting languages like REXX, python, UNIXDemonstrates accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detailLook for ways to improve and promote qualityApplies methods and constructs to improve performance.Additional Qualifications:-A good knowledge of programming in CICS and/or IMS is beneficialExperience in using SVN, GIT repositoriesUI automation experience using tools like ISPF and/or Google Web Toolkit is an advantageDatabase and DB2 experience is an added advantage
