Job Summary & Responsibility customer front:Quest Global GEV Gas Power Service Plant & Accessories Engineering is looking for a SME who has 18+ years of experience in Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering for gas turbine power plants and combined cycle power plants (CCPPs). You will be a critical part of the entire project lifecycle from initial scoping through design and field installation support, and validation. As a Design Engineer you will work closely with the Power Services project engineering team and customers to learn about existing gas turbine power plants and develop solutions that bring significant value to the customers and the PS business via Conversions, Modifications, and Upgrades (CM&Us), NPIs & New Unit Requisitions. In this role, you will work on design, development and provide support to the global fleet of Heavy Duty Gas Turbines for accessory systems and related Balance of Plant equipment to improve upon reliability, performance, emission, efficiency and safety. Projects vary from small electrical system upgrades to repowering entire gas turbine generator set with latest proven technology. In this role you will work within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.Experience in the following systems is essentialSystem Design : Designing, developing equipment specification, testing and troubleshooting of AC and DC Electrical Power Distribution System and electrical equipment’s (Generator Circuit Breaker, Isophase Ducts, Power Transformer, Unit Auxiliary Transformer, Generator Step-up transformer). Protection & Control: Developing Electrical Protection strategy, relay programming and performing protection and coordination studies, and short circuit studies, arc flash, voltage regulation, load flow and fault level reportsPerform advanced electric and magnetic field analysis.Technical Regulations & Standards: Ensure functionality, safety and integrity of the electrical designs and compliance with appropriate codes from various regulatory bodies and best design practices (IEC, NEC, ATEX)Vendor Management & Sourcing:• Preparation of technical specifications for procurement of the range of electrical equipment and materials• Evaluating, review technology and companies for Approved Vendor List inclusionEssential Functions• Understand the GE Gas Turbine components and overall project requirements • Ensure integration of the new systems in the existing Power Plant• Act as team member of the offer team (Application Engineering) and/or the project execution team (Requisition Engineering) for complex GT or CCPP CM&U and New Units projects• Ensure all drawings and bill of material structures are matching contract requirements in relation to the electrical systems scope of work.• Solve difficult technical challenges and provide solutions to customer• Coordinate with interfacing organizations such as manufacturing, sourcing, services, global engineering, advanced technologies and systems engineering• Coordinate with vendors to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications• Document design work clearly and meticulously• Provide timely and accurate responses to support resolution of field installation and customer issues• Assume responsibility for process and safety engineering within the project team for CM&U and NPI projects Additional responsibility Quest Global Front:Understand Team Capability and the competency gaps, develop training plan, be a mentor to enhance the team technical capability. Record the training sessions, Groom Junior / Fresh Engineers to fullfill the future needs, Develop Competency assessment to evaluate the team.Help Hiring and recruitment the right candidates for future fulfillment. Drive Continual Improvement initiatives (CI) / Lean / Productivity ideas. Review the deliverables and assess the Technical reviewers and the internal review process.Qualifications/Requirements – • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical or Instrumentation engineering is must• 18 + years of relevant experience in the Power Industry, ideally field services, electrical & Instrumentation engineering or in a similar position• Basic knowledge on Power plant components and its functioning• Familiarity with main electrical equipment including generator breakers, excitation system, starting system, transformers and power plant relay and protection schemes• Demonstrated understanding of sizing of electrical equipment LV, MV & interconnect cables, as well as required hardware integration• Knowledge in Control Systems• Excellent written and oral communication• Fluent in written and spoken English• Knowledge of applicable national and international codes / Standards / directives such as IEC, NEC, CSA, IECEx, ATEX etc.Desired Characteristics • Site knowledge and experience with installation and trouble shooting of electrical equipment• Ability to remain focused even in challenging situations• Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously• Cad Tool Experience
