Key Competencies
Thoroughly conversant with analysis and design of industrial structures covering steel as well as RCC structures related to industries like hydrocarbon, refineries, petrochemicals & fertilizers etc.
Conversant with Indian as well as international design codes and standards viz. IS, BS/EUROCODE, ASCE and ACI. Should be able to develop material specifications independently. Must have experience & proficiency in structural design software e.g. STAAD-Pro and STAAD Foundation/MAT-3D/RCDC. And working knowledge of 3D modeling & detailing software e.g. SP3D/PDMS etc.
Should have hands on experience in review of design calculations, checking of general arrangement & fabrication drawings for steel & RCC. Capability to lead complete civil and structural engineering activities for a project.
Key Responsibilities
Helps managing the group for safe, operable and economic designs ranging conceptual, detail design and close-out. Ensures the designs meet quality and agreed project requirements. Leads the team to successfully complete assigned projects.
Executes the engineering and design works within budget and schedule. Coordinates with other departments and resolves engineering issues. Provides engineering inputs during all design phases including interpretation of standards. Actively communicates with other departments to optimize areas of interface during design development, review and check processes. Discusses with support engineers and designers regularly on scope, man-hours, resources and schedules. Participates in Technical and progress reviews of projects. Familiar with organization procedures and international standards and codes.
Performs discipline and inter-discipline check of documents. Ensures that the required integrity and quality of the work is maintained. Familiar with Quality/HSE management system and their procedures. Ensures timely corrective actions for identified non-conformities.
Reviews scope of work for proposals and seeks clarification for ambiguous /incomplete / incorrect information. Assists functional head in preparing man-hour estimates.
Assists functional head in planning & scheduling of discipline activities. Provides input to project execution, planning and scheduling.
Identifies project specific engineering and design elements which require subcontracting.
Thoroughly guides the team and reviews all documents, analysis & design files to ensure technical accuracy. Guides and develops junior staff to fulfil discipline engineering jobs.
