Senior Mainframe Systems Engineer

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mainframe Systems Engineer to join our growing team.

You will play a critical role in ensuring the optimal performance, availability, security, and stability of our mainframe environment.

Primary Skills (Must-Have):


- 10+ years of experience working with IBM mainframe systems (z/OS).

- In-depth knowledge of z/OS architecture and core components (e g. , MVS, JES, IEF, SMP/E).

- Expertise in system administration tasks, including:

1. User and group management

2. Job scheduling and monitoring

3. System resource management

4. System backup and recovery procedures

5. System performance tuning and optimization

- Strong understanding of mainframe security best practices and compliance requirements (e. g. , RACF, ACF2).

- Proficiency in JCL (Job Control Language) for writing and submitting mainframe jobs.

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Strong communication and collaboration skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Bonus Points:

- Experience with DB2 for z/OS database administration.

- Experience with CICS, IMS, or other mainframe transaction processing systems.

- Experience with VSAM and other mainframe data storage solutions.

- Experience with mainframe automation tools (e. g. , CA automation products, REXX scripting).

- Experience with DevOps methodologies applied to the mainframe environment.

- Mainframe monitoring and reporting tools experience.

- Knowledge of cloud integration with mainframe Manage and maintain the day-to-day operations of the z/OS environment.

- Perform system administration tasks to ensure smooth operation and optimal performance.

- Monitor system health and identify potential issues proactively.

- Troubleshoot and resolve complex system problems.

- Implement security best practices and maintain system security.

- Automate routine tasks to improve efficiency.

- Participate in system upgrades and migrations.

- Work with developers and other IT teams to support mainframe applications.

- Stay up-to-date with the latest IBM mainframe technologies and best practices.

- Document procedures and processes for knowledge transfer.
