Job Description As a SQL Database Administrator, you will support the stability, security, and performance of SQL Server environments across on-premises and Azure platforms. Visit Training Calendar ) The Qualifications We Seek Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience) 3-5 years of experience in SQL Server database administration within enterprise or MSP environments Strong experience supporting hybrid environments (on-premises and Azure SQL) Technical Skills Advanced knowledge of SQL Server architecture, query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning Expertise with SQL Server Agent, SSRS, SSIS, and Power Shell automation Strong understanding of Windows Server administration and Active Directory integration Experience with Azure SQL, Azure Monitor, and Azure Backup Familiarity with Halo PSA, PRTG, or other monitoring tools is an asset Soft Skills Analytical and methodical problem-solving approach Excellent communication and documentation skills (English/French bilingualism an asset) Ability to manage multiple client environments and priorities Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and teamwork Preferred Certifications Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate Microsoft Certified: SQL Server Database Administrator (MCSA/MCSE) ITIL Foundation or equivalent service management certification Certifications: Any Microsoft SQL certifications Language: English Performance Metrics Database uptime and SLA adherence (99.9% or higher) Successful completion of backup and recovery tests Performance optimization results and incident reduction Adherence to Altanora's change management and security compliance policies Your Daily Tasks Database Administration Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases (2016, 2019, 2022, Azure SQL) Manage database provisioning, patching, and lifecycle maintenance Monitor and optimize system performance, availability, and capacity Maintain secure database configurations, roles, and permissions Performance & Optimization Analyze and optimize T-SQL queries, indexes, and schema designs Troubleshoot locking, blocking, and deadlock issues Implement proactive monitoring and alerting Backup, Recovery & High Availability Develop and document backup and recovery procedures Manage HA/DR solutions (Always On Availability Groups, Log Shipping, Replication) Ensure compliance with RPO/RTO requirements Automation & Process Improvement Develop Power Shell and T-SQL scripts for automation Contribute to automation initiatives within Halo PSA and Azure Dev Ops Improve Managed Services standards and runbooks Support & Collaboration Provide expert-level support for critical database incidents Collaborate with cloud architects, developers, and service desk teams Support client onboarding, migrations, and modernization projects About the Client Engineering Reliability for the Digital World Our client is a global technology solutions provider specializing in secure, resilient, and performance-driven IT infrastructure.
