What’s your new role about? The Lead Data Engineer will participate in the definition, implementation, and support of Elevate’s data engineering platform. The engineer will work closely with project leads, organizational units, and subject matter experts to identify, configure, deploy, and maintain data processes. The right candidate will be responsible for executing on the day-to-day data engineering tasks and projects, support, maintenance, and improvement of our data ecosystem. The candidate should have a demonstrated background in data engineering and development. The candidate will be an excellent communicator and deem themselves as an all-star functional data engineering expert. The candidate will have significant and proven experience in managing data pipelines, data warehousing, and data integration.

Key Responsibilities:

- Work collaboratively with staff that have varying expertise and exposure to data engineering concepts in order to solve complex problems.- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills in order to adapt to the dynamic nature of discussions with other engineering, product teams, and business partners.- Data configuration and customization including but not limited to data pipeline development, data warehousing, report setup, data imports, and third-party software integrations.- Import and manage data between various system sources.- Produce technical documentation for project and enhancement tasks, orient process users through workshops and demos.- Lead data engineering project initiatives through requirements gathering, development work, and production releases following Change/Release Management processes.- Lead a team of 3-5 data and analytics engineers in developing solutions for multiple business units.

Education:

- Bachelors in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Technology or equivalent experience

Domain Knowledge:

- If applicable, develop an understanding of the Finance/Loan domain to align technical solutions with business requirements.

Skills:

Must have skills (Technical + Softskills):

- Must have 5+ years experience as a Data Engineer.- Must have experience with Snowflake SQL, Python, and data engineering design patterns.- Must have excellent communication skills including teaching/mentoring other team members.- Must have excellent collaboration skills but also be able to work independently.

Nice to have skills (Technical + Softskills):

- Experience with Matillion, Gen AI, and Streamsets.- Automation/integration experience using data engineering tools.- Experience with Microsoft DevOps.
