Roles and Responsibilities

  • Examine and interpret tissue, blood, and body fluid samples to diagnose diseases.
  • Perform autopsies and prepare detailed findings when required.
  • Provide clinical consultations to physicians and healthcare teams regarding test results.
  • Oversee quality assurance protocols to ensure compliance with international standards.
  • Collaborate with medical staff to refine diagnostic testing procedures.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise laboratory staff to build local diagnostic capacity.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, record-keeping, and reporting of results.
  • Support continuous improvement of diagnostic capabilities at Nauru Medical Center.

Preferred Candidate Profile

  • MBBS with MD/DNB (Pathology) or equivalent specialist certification.
  • Minimum 35 years of post-qualification experience in Pathology (histopathology & laboratory medicine preferred).
  • Proven experience in laboratory quality assurance and diagnostic standards.
  • Valid, unrestricted license to practice in country of training/origin; eligibility for registration in Nauru.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to collaborate in a multicultural environment.
  • Experience in mentoring/training laboratory staff is an advantage.
  • Willingness to relocate and work in Nauru on project assignment.
