Why this role is critical to us

  • The Senior Risk Manager has a strategic support role in India and will report into the MD of Experian Credit information Company of India Pvt Ltd/ Country Head (Experian) and dotted to Head of Risk Management (LOD1 – EMAP).
  • The role will be accountable for ensuring we create an effective first line of defense, and providing support to the Executive and Senior management of the BU function in the identification, assessment, management and reporting of risk, strengthening the control environment and monitoring of the BU compliance with internal policies and regulations, along with driving improvements in the quality and resolution of issue and loss event management. It will also be required to collaborate with LOD2 Risk, Compliance, Information Security, Legal functions; with the aim of fostering more mature, consistent disciplines and ways of working for 1st line risk.

What you’ll be doing

  • Ensure risks are identified (as proactively as possible), escalated and appropriately assessed for their area of business
  • Develop, execute and monitor appropriate controls to manage and mitigate risk
  • Perform Risk and control Self Assessment (RCSA) and Compliance testing along with LOD 2 in identifying the risk areas and put across adequate control measures
  • Tracking and closure of open actionable from RCSA, Compliance testing, Internal & Group Internal Audit within agreed timeframes
  • Raise, contain and recover events within their area of the business, ascertain the true root cause and potential / actual loss incurred
  • Close events within a timely manner
  • Raise issues for corrective actions identified following root cause analysis, and follow Issue Management & Remediation process"
  • Identify, assess and report risk exposures to the relevant governance forums
  • Work along with LOD 2 to indentify and monitor the Key Risk Indicators (KRIs)
  • Perform horizon scanning to identify potential threats, risks, emerging issues and opportunities and escalate as appropriate
  • Comply with all applicable Global Policies and Standards
  • Line management of existing 1LoD Risk Managers in the APAC region (1 direct report in GC / SEA market and dotted line leadership of India risk team)
  • Support LOD2 for ensuring Business Resilience Policy is adhered. Documenting the Business Impact Analysis across functions.
  • Review of KPIs of the vendors under Third Party Risk Managemnt.
  • Coordinate with Units for closure of open actionable from the TPRM reviews performed by Region and in-Country.
  • Performance management - agree goals and objectives for team
  • Contribute to strategic planning of 1LoD Risk Management in EMAP region
  • Actively participate in the product and Process Approval meetings
  • Conduct Country Risk Board highlighting the critical areas of concerns, ageing of issues, key risk areas
  • Attend all applicable risk forums and act as an escalation point to Regional Lead, as and when required
  • Support markets in ensuring appropriate readiness for internal & external audits
  • Secure strong working relationship with 2LoD functions (e.g. Security, Compliance)


What is required

  • Relevant degree and advanced diplomas in Business, Commerce and Management Studies, Risk Management and/or Audit.
  • 8-10 years of experience in Financial Services/Data Management
  • 6 years’ experience in a risk and/or audit environment
  • 2 years managerial/leadership experience
  • Good understanding of IT and Operations (back office) operations and processes
