About the Role:

The Retail Safety Manager will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of employees, customers, and assets by implementing and maintaining safety protocols, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring adherence to regulatory and company safety standards.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures across all retail locations.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments, safety audits, and inspections to identify potential hazards.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and national safety regulations and standards.
  • Train and educate store managers and staff on safety protocols, emergency procedures, and accident prevention techniques.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, providing reports with recommendations for improvement.
  • Coordinate with local authorities and emergency services to ensure preparedness in case of fire, theft, or other emergencies.
  • Manage safety equipment and ensure all stores are equipped with necessary safety tools such as fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and emergency exit plans.
  • Lead emergency drills and develop evacuation plans for retail stores.
  • Monitor and report on safety performance, recommending corrective actions as needed.
  • Stay updated on relevant industry trends, legislation, and best practices in retail safety.
  • Work closely with HR and Operations teams to promote a culture of safety and responsibility.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Occupational Health, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a safety management role, preferably in a retail or related industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams.
  • Certification in Safety Management (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) is a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and safety management software.


Working Conditions:

  • Regular travel to retail locations in Mumbai.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work for emergencies or safety training.
