Principal Pharmacy

Role & responsibilities

Clinical & Operational Leadership:

• Provide expert pharmaceutical advice and support to clinical teams.
• Oversee day-to-day pharmacy operations, ensuring compliance with legal, professional, and ethical standards.
• Lead the development and implementation of clinical pharmacy services and medication safety initiatives.
• Evaluate and optimize formulary management and therapeutic guidelines.

Governance & Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with local and national regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, MHRA, TGA, etc.).
• Lead audits, inspections, and risk assessments related to pharmacy services.
• Maintain appropriate documentation, including SOPs and controlled drug records.

Team Management & Development:

• Manage and mentor a team of pharmacists, technicians, and support staff.
• Conduct regular performance appraisals, training, and competency assessments.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, professional development, and collaboration.

Policy & Strategy:

• Contribute to strategic planning and policy development for pharmaceutical services.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop medication-use policies and treatment protocols.
• Monitor drug utilization trends and recommend cost-effective therapeutic alternatives.

Education & Research:

• Support research initiatives and clinical trials involving pharmaceuticals.
• Deliver education and training to healthcare professionals on pharmacotherapy and medication safety.
• Stay updated with emerging trends in pharmacology and pharmacy practice.
