Job Description: As a Flight Dynamics and Controls Engineer at Sarla Aviation, you will play a crucial role in planning and building the Flight Controls algorithm for our state-of-the-art fly-by-wire aircraft. You will work closely with an aircraft design and technician team to ensure our aircraft meets aviation standards and is ready for daily flight test operations. As a Flight Dynamics and Controls Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in designing the control algorithms for our eVTOL passenger aircraft while ensuring the overall airworthiness of our aircraft.


Responsibilities:

  • Developing, designing, and analyzing control systems tailored for eVTOL aircraft, encompassing flight control systems, autopilots, and stability augmentation systems.
  • Conducting simulations and modeling to evaluate control system performance and stability across diverse conditions.
  • Defining and documenting control system requirements aligned with aircraft performance specifications and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to seamlessly integrate control systems with other aircraft subsystems.
  • Implementing and validating algorithms using simulation tools and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing.
  • Conducting comprehensive testing, including ground-based testing, flight simulation, and flight testing, to ensure control system performance and safety.
  • Developing fault-tolerant strategies to enable safe operation in the event of system failures.
  • Designing diagnostic systems for fault identification and mitigation within control systems.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant aviation regulations and standards such as FAA and EASA.
  • Maintaining meticulous documentation of control system designs, algorithms, and test results.
  • Generating clear and concise reports for internal and external stakeholders.


Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace/Aeronautical/Controls Engineering, with 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in control system design using MATLAB, Simulink, and other tools.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience in flight dynamics modeling, flight simulation development, control law design, guidance law design, or state estimator design.
  • Solid understanding of state estimation, guidance, flight control, flight mechanics, and mathematical modeling.
  • Proven track record in developing flight control and guidance systems from concept to flight testing.


Bonus Qualifications:

  • Exposure to certification processes for flight control laws is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with aeroelastic flight dynamic modeling and control law development is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with fly-by-wire aircraft and flight tests
  • Experience with CAD, NX, Confluence, and JIRA
  • Familiarity with DGCA & FAA type certification and conformal test setups.
