Job Purpose:

To ensure that all cosmetic products meet quality standards and regulatory requirements before release. The Quality Control Officer is responsible for testing raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods, maintaining laboratory documentation, and supporting continuous improvement in quality assurance processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform physical, chemical, and microbiological testing of raw materials, packaging materials, in-process samples, and finished cosmetic products.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, ISO, and regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, EU Cosmetic Regulation, BIS).
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date laboratory records, test results, and batch release documentation.
  • Calibrate and maintain lab equipment and ensure proper working conditions at all times.
  • Conduct stability studies of products and maintain stability records.
  • Participate in investigation of deviations, OOS (Out of Specification), and non-conformities.
  • Support product shelf-life testing and validation procedures.
  • Work closely with R&D, Production, and Quality Assurance departments to resolve quality issues.
  • Assist in developing and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for lab activities.
  • Ensure environmental monitoring and cleanliness of the QC lab according to company policies.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry standards and regulatory changes affecting cosmetics.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, Pharmacy, or Cosmetic Science.
  • (1–5)+ years of experience in a QC role in the cosmetic, pharmaceutical, or personal care industry.
  • Strong understanding of cosmetic formulations, GMP, ISO standards, and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with analytical instruments (e.g., pH meter, viscometer, spectrophotometer, HPLC, GC, etc.).
  • Familiarity with microbial testing procedures and basic lab safety protocols.

  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent documentation and report writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Good communication and team collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems) is a plus.

Preferred Certifications (Optional):

  • ISO GMP for cosmetics) training
  • HACCP / Quality Auditor Certification
  • FDA or BIS compliance knowledge
