Vancouver Automation specializes in cutting-edge robotics and AI-driven solutions, including the SandX4800 sanding robot for woodworking processes. The company offers consultancy services to optimize automation processes tailored to individual business needs. The SandX4800 robot boasts fast, precise, and cost-effective sanding capabilities, while the consultancy services focus on increasing productivity and reducing operational costs.

As part of our expanding suite of automation offerings, we're looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer who can develop powerful web applications, backend services, and APIs that integrate seamlessly with our robotics and AI platforms.

 

Key Responsibilities

1)     Full Stack Web Development

a)     Design and implement user-facing applications using React and TypeScript for real-time interaction with robotics systems.

b)    Collaborate with our robotics and product teams to create intuitive dashboards and control panels for the SandX4800 and other robotic solutions.

2)     API Design & Backend Services

a)     Develop robust, scalable, and secure RESTful or GraphQL APIs to manage robotics workflows, data exchange, and user authentication.

b)    Integrate backend services with third-party tools, databases, and internal systems to streamline automation processes.

3)     Containerization & Deployment

a)     Utilize Docker for containerization, ensuring consistent and reliable deployment across various environments.

b)    Work closely with DevOps teams (or handle DevOps tasks) to manage CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and cloud deployments.

4)     Performance & Reliability

a)     Implement best practices for optimizing the speed, efficiency, and scalability of both frontend and backend components.

b)    Monitor system performance, troubleshoot bottlenecks, and ensure robust error handling within distributed applications.

5)     Collaboration & Documentation

a)     Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including robotics engineers, product managers, and QA, to define application requirements and technical specifications.

b)    Document software designs, API endpoints, and user flows to maintain clear, up-to-date references for internal and external stakeholders.

6)     Continuous Improvement

a)     Stay updated on emerging trends in web development, containerization, and cloud services to enhance our software stack.

b)    Propose and implement new features or improvements that elevate user experience and streamline integration with our robotic systems.

Qualifications

1)     Education

c)     Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

2)     Experience

d)    2+ years of professional experience building and maintaining full stack applications.

7)     Technical Skills

a)     Frontend: Proficiency in React and TypeScript for building responsive, high-performing user interfaces.

b)    Backend: Strong understanding of Node.js (or Python) for server-side development; experience with frameworks like Express, Fastify, or Django/Flask is a plus.

c)     API Development: Hands-on experience in designing RESTful or GraphQL APIs, including authentication and authorization strategies.

d)    Containerization: Knowledge of Docker for creating, managing, and deploying containers.

e)     Databases: Familiarity with SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) or NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis) databases for storing and retrieving data.

8)     Communication

a)     Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

1)     Robotics/Automation Exposure: Interest or prior experience in integrating software solutions with physical robotic or industrial systems.

2)     Cloud & DevOps: Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).

3)     Testing & Quality Assurance: Familiarity with automated testing frameworks (Jest, Mocha, Cypress, etc.) and performance testing tools.

4)     Security Best Practices: Understanding of securing web applications and APIs, including OAuth, JWT, and data encryption.
