DC Server Administrator

Look after of all the Virtualization, SAN/NAS and Datacentre operations including backup, application, database and desktops (in case of special request) support. Also, to manage and maintain the complete hardware infrastructure for the Datacentre, look after health and troubleshooting the problems regarding same.

Responsibilities

· DC Server administration for the new deployment under physical, virtual or cloud environment.· DC Monitoring and maintenace activities on a regular basis including action plan· Vendor co-ordination for new deployment, current technical escalation· Physical Installation of Server, OS installation including network connectivity· Application installation (if needed), Server performance check· OS Patch update & Monitoring (Restarting the server)· AV status check & Monitoring (Restarting the server)· Server OS upgrade (need based or proactively)· Application upgrade (In case of IT Infra role)· Hardware upgrade requirement - feasibility check and generating the appropriate requirement· Hardware Firmware & OS Drives upgrade w.r.t latest version availability· Server OS phase out planning and execution· Server H/W phase out planning and execution· Creating complete Backup Infra Landscape in coordination with the IT Head – IT Coordinator.· Managing dedicated backup servers (Backup exec and Netback up) as per the Server management Guidelines· Managing backup agents (Platform specific) running on all the Production Servers.· Preparing the backup schedules as per the business requirement, customer requirement, Project – Delivery team requirement, Application team requirement· Implementing backup schedule and managing the complete backup cycle as per the schedule finalized· Managing the incremental and full back up schedules with daily monitoring on Backup servers· Complete Backup Media management which includes Media Life Cycle Management, capacity planning, Labelling, Creating Groups & Sets, Offsite Storage (Wherever Applicable).· Daily Backup log verification & in case of job failure take following actionso Sending logs to concerned projects PM/PL and co-ordination with users/ PM/PL accordingly.o Troubleshoot the issue & take corrective action. Repeat the backup schedule for failed Jobs· Full back up of completed projects with offshore and onsite copy.· On request Backup for Non-Production servers (e.g. Desktops – Workstations – Any other requirement)· Specific folder management for completed project and assigned to project team whenever backup request received including media requirement.· Backup Software Management: Regular patch management to align with the latest patches.· Backup selection list management.· Pushing of backup agent on servers when any new request received for backup.· Restoration of Backup on regular basis as per the request raised by project team (completed /Running).· Regular review of complete Backup Landscape (Backup window, Backup resource as well current & future data expansion)· Backup Library Managemento Corrective action on every alert received from library point of view.o Maintaining appropriate level of redundancy so as to take care of any failure within the Backup Infra landscapeo Regular monitoring of logs for libraries and drives (Preventive maintenance).· Verifying latest Firmware and Drivers status· Storage Space utilization check (In case of file server)· Coordination with the request initiator for folder creation request· Quarterly review of the currently consumed space· Server restart for various maintenance requirement· Coordination with the respective stack holder OR folder owner in case of server restart for any maintenance requirement· Any other query related to the server, storage space· Any coordination to respective stack holders w.r.t same activity· Initiating backup requirement with server stack holders· Coordinating with Backup Administrator and ensuring backup is configured as per the requirement.· Planning & Documenting of Disaster Recovery plan for the server and scheduling the test restore as per ISMS recovery test cycle· Regular Backup monitoring and restoration would be taken care by Backup administrator.
