Purpose of the Position:


The position is to Head the Tax & Customs vertical of SAVWIPL. The role is responsible for long term tax & customs strategy for the business. The role has to also provide the strategic inputs to the Board of Management of the organization towards ensuring tax compliances and seeking tax certainty to achieve overall results of the company. The role entails development of business strategy which is fully compliant from tax & customs perspective towards the manufacturing operations of 3 brands VW, Skoda, Audi and distribution function - import and sale of FBU vehicles for 3 brands Audi, Porsche, Lamborghini, parts warehouse operations. The role is also responsible for ensuring optimum pricing of intra Group transactions both from Transfer Pricing and Customs perspective, to strategize the closure of past litigations,closing past Special Valuation Branch files resulting in refund. The role also includes responsibility in developing the future business model of the organization which is compliant both from Transfer Pricing & Customs perspective (in India and at EU level) giving cognizance to the Corporate Strategy 2032 - new products introduction (BEV), expansion of Technical Centre into potential R&D hub, sourcing hub in India. Steer towards making the tax & customs function leaner and automated.


In addition, the role is also responsible for ensuring smooth customs clearances and timely GST payments, credit utilizations, planning cash flow management by timely information of tax payouts and GST refunds.


The role is also responsible for leading tax Centre of Excellence in India by providing strategic inputs and ensuring tax compliance of overseas Group companies within and outside India and by being a key tax responsible in countries in APAC region – Japan, Australia, Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, etc. as a part of VW AG Group Tax Team of Germany.


Authority:


  • Authorized Signatory for all documents related to Tax & Customs submissions
  • Authorized to represent the company before external authorities (Direct Tax (including Advance Pricing Authorities) , Indirect Tax, Customs and Government officials (including Appellate Authorities, Tax Tribunals)) and external forums such as SIAM, CII, etc.
  • Authorized Signatory for compliances of various Group companies in India
  • Authorized to sign documents, online transactions with various banks
  • Authorized to approve all tax & Customs duty payments, interest & penalties
  • Authorized to be a part of Finance Committee of Automotive Research Association of India
  • Authorized to handle consultancy budget

Key Responsibilities & Tasks:


  • Responsible for all Tax & Customs compliances and expedite closure of open litigations with special focus on open Bi-lateral APA and MAP matters, Special Valuation Branch files and Advance Rulings
  • Active involvement in tax & customs strategies pertaining high-level NSO and plant activities (new vehicles, plant extensions, etc.) and evaluation of business cases for future projects
  • Active involvement in strategizing inter-company pricing of FBU, P&C toensure correct tax and customs compliances from the very inception of the transactions
  • Leading the tax automation initiatives for making a leaner and efficient tax & customs vertical
  • Working with diverse stakeholders across SAVW India, VW Group to discuss various cross border transactions and strategize concluding them in most tax efficient manner
  • Ensuring all possible tax & customs incentives and working towards overall tax optimization for business transactions
  • Key tax responsible for various Group companies in APAC region – Japan, Australia, Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, etc.
  • Responsible for representing the Company before various industry forums from tax & customs perspective (e.g. SIAM, CII, FICCI, etc.)
  • Advisory role towards tax strategy and ensuring compliances of VWITS in India and its various Permanent Establishments in Germany, Sweden, Australia, Belgium, Czech Republic and any other country as may be applicable.
  • Responsible for handling budget for tax consultancy
