Position will be responsible for designing, managing, and optimizing storage and backup infrastructure. Role will ensure the integrity, availability, and security of critical data by maintaining efficient and robust storage and backup solutions. Position will work closely with Engineering and rest of business teams to implement storage strategies, necessary security controls, troubleshoot issues, and provide backup and disaster recovery solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Storage Infrastructure Management : Manage enterprise storage systems, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Backup Solutions : Manage backup and recovery infrastructure, ensuring timely and accurate backups, as well as restore processes for critical data and applications.
  • Disaster Recovery : Test disaster recovery plans, ensuring the company can quickly recover from data loss events, hardware failures, or other critical incidents.
  • Data Integrity and Security : Ensure data integrity by implementing best practices in storage management, including encryption, redundancy, and access control including air gap solutions etc.
  • Capacity Planning and Optimization : Monitor storage capacity and performance, forecasting future needs and optimizing storage resources for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Troubleshooting and Support : Diagnose and resolve storage and backup-related issues, collaborating with other IT teams to ensure a seamless data management environment.
  • Documentation : Maintain detailed documentation of storage and backup configurations, policies, and procedures, ensuring clear processes for both operations and recovery.
  • Collaboration with Engineering Teams : Work closely with network, systems, and security teams to integrate storage solutions into the overall IT infrastructure and support business continuity.

Required Skills

  • Storage Systems : Strong experience with enterprise storage solutions (e.g., NetApp, Dell EMC, HPE, IBM, Hitachi), including SAN, NAS, and DAS technologies.
  • Backup Technologies : Proficiency with backup tools (e.g., Veritas Netbackup, Commvault, Veeam etc) for both on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Disaster Recovery : Experience in developing and testing disaster recovery plans, with a focus on minimizing downtime and data loss.
  • Data Protection : Strong understanding of data protection techniques, including replication, snapshots, encryption, and deduplication.
  • Scripting and Automation : Familiarity with scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for automating backup and storage tasks.
  • Cloud Storage : Knowledge of cloud storage and backup solutions in platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Performance Monitoring and Optimization : Experience with performance monitoring tools and techniques to ensure storage systems are running optimally.
