About Square Yards
Square Yards is a leading proptech platform delivering end-to-end solutions across property discovery, mortgages, home furnishing, rentals, and property management. We leverage data, 3D, and real-time visualization to transform the real estate journey for consumers and partners alike. Our B2C brands—Azuro, Interior Company, and Square Capital—tap into strategic advantages across the value chain, while we continue building next-gen immersive tools to become India's first MLS at scale.
Job Overview
Are you passionate about creating photorealistic, real-time 3D experiences? Join us to craft high-fidelity environments, props, and materials for immersive virtual property tours, interior visualizations, and interactive applications. As a 3D Generalist, you will own the asset pipeline end to end—from modeling and texturing to lighting, optimization, and engine integration in Unreal Engine or Unity.
Responsibilities
- Create high-quality hard-surface and organic models, modular environment kits, and hero props from concepts and references.
- Produce clean topology, UVs, and baked maps; author PBR textures and reusable material libraries.
- Set up lighting, post-processing, and reflection systems for photoreal real-time scenes and offline renders when required.
- Optimize assets for performance across mobile and desktop targets, including LODs, lightmaps, collisions, and draw-call budgeting.
- Assemble and iterate scenes in Unreal/Unity using Blueprints or prefabs, material/shader graphs, and profiling tools.
- Build and maintain scalable pipelines, export presets, and naming/versioning standards; contribute to asset libraries.
- Collaborate with designers, engineers, and product to meet visual quality, performance, and delivery timelines.
- Perform visual QA; troubleshoot shading, normals, and artifact issues; profile and resolve bottlenecks.
- Prepare turntables, cinematic shots, and marketing renders using Sequencer or Cinemachine as needed.
- Document workflows and handoffs; participate in reviews and sprint ceremonies.
Requirements
- 2+ years of professional experience as a 3D Artist/Generalist in games, visualization, or interactive media.
- Strong portfolio showcasing modeling, UVs, baking, and PBR texturing with consistent texel density and material fidelity.
- Proficiency in Unreal Engine or Unity for scene assembly, materials, lighting, and post-processing.
- Solid understanding of real-time rendering and optimization: LODs, lightmapping, reflection probes/captures, GPU/CPU profiling.
- Hands-on with DCC/tools: Blender/Maya/3ds Max; Substance Painter/Designer; Photoshop; optional ZBrush.
- Experience integrating assets into engine-ready pipelines, including collisions, lightmap UVs, and export presets.
- Familiarity with version control (Git or Perforce) and collaborative workflows in Agile teams.
- Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and communication skills.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Game Development, Animation, Computer Graphics, Fine Arts, Architecture, or a related field.
- Diploma or certification in 3D/Animation from a recognized institute is acceptable.
- Equivalent industry experience with a strong portfolio will be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
- Preferred: coursework or certification covering PBR texturing, lighting, and real-time rendering (Unreal/Unity).
Preferred Qualifications
- UE5 Nanite/Lumen or Unity URP/HDRP experience; knowledge of Lightmass/Path Tracer or real-time GI strategies.
- Basic Unreal Blueprints or Unity C# to wire scene logic, tools, or simple interactivity.
- Shader Graph/Material Editor proficiency; Niagara/VFX Graph exposure.
- Environment art for architecture/interior visualization; modular kits, trim sheets, and atlases.
- Photogrammetry cleanup, procedural tools (e.g., Houdini), or CAD-to-game workflows.
- Experience with asset optimization for low/medium spec devices and WebGL/streaming constraints.
- Understanding of asset management at scale, naming conventions, and catalog-driven pipelines.
What You'll Work On
- Interactive virtual property tours and photoreal interior/home visualization tools.
- Reusable environment kits, materials, and lighting rigs for rapid world-building.
- High-quality renders and real-time scenes for product demos, marketing, and customer experiences.
Benefits
- Build real-world 3D products used by thousands of customers in a fast-growing proptech environment.
- Mentorship from senior 3D/engine developers and exposure to full SDLC in an agile setup.
- Access to modern engines, tools, and high-end hardware for real-time visualization.
- Collaborative culture that values ownership, creativity, and rapid iteration.
How to Apply
Please submit your resume and a link to your portfolio showcasing your best 3–5 projects (wireframes, UVs, texture sets, and engine screenshots/renders recommended)
