Job Description :

This is a remote position.

Mission :

Collaborate with our development and product teams to design, implement, and maintain backend solutions and web applications. Over the contract period, contribute to high-quality, reliable software solutions that meet and exceed our clients' needs, optimising performance and ensuring robust data security.

Key Outcomes :

Project Completion :

- Complete onboarding to the Ruby on Rails (RoR) codebase within the first 2 weeks post getting onboarded.


- Deliver 5 critical features within the initial 60 days of onboarding.


- Ensure any code written is well documented and commented.


- Ensure that 95% of the delivered features are error-free and receive no significant merge request (MR) feedback within the first 60 days of joining


Efficient Backend Development :


- Deliver high-quality Ruby on Rails backend solutions that align with project requirements and quality standards.


- Complete development milestones on schedule, ensuring efficient code that is reusable, scalable, and and Collaboration :


- Seamlessly integrate user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with backend server logic, creating smooth and cohesive user experiences.


- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery of project and Security Optimization :


- Identify and resolve bottlenecks, bugs, and other performance issues, optimising applications for reliability and scalability.


- Implement security and data protection measures to meet industry best practices, safeguarding data integrity and user privacy.


Roles and Responsibilities :


Backend Development and Maintenance :


- Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Ruby on Rails code that meets project specifications and adapts to evolving with Frontend and Data Solutions :


- Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.


- Ensure seamless integration with data storage solutions, including SQL and NoSQL databases.


Debugging and Optimization :


- Troubleshoot, debug, and optimise applications, addressing issues related to performance, reliability, and scalability.


Security Implementation :


- Develop and apply security measures to protect data and ensure compliance with security best practices.


Continuous Learning and Adaptation :


- Stay updated on the latest Ruby on Rails and web development trends, exploring emerging technologies that could benefit the project.


Key Competencies :

1. Technical Proficiency :

- Expertise in Ruby on Rails and a solid understanding of the Ruby language syntax.


- Experience working with frontend technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.


2. Database Management :

Strong knowledge of SQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and familiarity with NoSQL databases, with the ability to integrate multiple data sources into a single system.

3. System Architecture and Optimization :

- Skilled in identifying performance bottlenecks, debugging, and implementing optimization strategies. Familiarity with MVC, Mocking, ORM, and RESTful API development.

4. Problem-Solving and Adaptability :

- Exceptional problem-solving skills, capable of troubleshooting complex issues. Ability to adapt to new technologies and optimise solutions based on emerging best practices.

5. Collaboration and Communication :

- Effective in working within cross-functional teams and communicating clearly with team members and stakeholders to ensure project success.

Requirements :

1. Education :

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

2. Experience :

- 4-6 years of experience with Ruby on Rails development, including familiarity with backend and frontend integrations.

- Strong experience with SQL databases and familiarity with containerization tools such as Docker is a plus.

- Knowledge of Agile methodologies, testing frameworks, and experience in leading code reviews.

Technical Skills :


- Proficiency in Ruby on Rails and a good understanding of Ruby syntax.


- Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other frontend technologies.


- Experience with containerization and deployment tools such as Docker is a plus.
