Senior Machine Learning Engineer with Generative AI Expertise
Job Title:
Senior Machine Learning Engineer (Generative AI Specialist)
Experience Level:
8+ years of professional experience in Machine Learning, with at least 3+ years of focused work in Generative AI and advanced model development.
About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Machine Learning Engineer with deep expertise in Generative AI to spearhead the development of transformative AI solutions. This role requires a strong technical leader who can design cutting-edge generative systems while guiding the team in solving complex problems, ensuring our solutions remain at the forefront of AI innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Generative AI Model Development:
Design, train, and fine-tune state-of-the-art generative models, such as GANs , Diffusion Models , VAEs , and Transformers (e.g., GPT, DALL-E, BERT).
Innovate and implement novel architectures and optimization strategies to improve performance across text, vision, audio, and multimodal domains.
Utilize and extend tools and libraries like Hugging Face , OpenAI APIs , and Stable Diffusion frameworks to accelerate development.
End-to-End AI Deployment:
Develop robust, scalable pipelines for training, testing, and deploying ML models in production environments.
Ensure efficient integration of models with existing systems and services, optimizing for real-time inference, throughput, and latency.
Data Engineering & Preprocessing:
Build and manage large-scale datasets for model training, ensuring data quality, augmentation, and pre-processing align with project needs.
Work with diverse unstructured data types (e.g., images, video, text, and audio) to enable high-quality generative outputs.
Model Evaluation & Monitoring:
Define evaluation metrics for generative models, such as FID , BLEU , or Perceptual Similarity , to ensure consistent performance and quality.
Develop automated tools for model performance monitoring, error detection, and optimization.
Research & Innovation:
Conduct research to stay ahead of the curve in generative AI advancements, exploring techniques like reinforcement learning with human feedback (RLHF) , prompt tuning , and adaptive model scaling .
Contribute to open-source initiatives and publish findings to enhance the team’s credibility and thought leadership.
Leadership & Collaboration:
Lead a team of ML engineers, fostering technical growth and mentoring team members.
Collaborate with product teams, UX designers, and business stakeholders to define clear objectives and deliver user-centered solutions.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Core Technical Skills:
Generative AI Expertise: Deep understanding of GANs, Diffusion Models, VAEs, Transformers (GPT-3, GPT-4, etc.), and other generative paradigms.
Programming Proficiency: Advanced skills in Python , with experience using libraries like PyTorch , TensorFlow , JAX , and Keras .
Large-Scale Training: Experience with distributed training using tools like Horovod , Ray , or DeepSpeed , as well as GPU/TPU optimization.
MLOps & DevOps Integration: Strong understanding of MLOps frameworks (e.g., MLflow, Kubeflow), containerization with Docker , orchestration with Kubernetes , and CI/CD pipelines for ML.
Cloud Computing: Proficiency in deploying and managing ML workloads on cloud platforms such as AWS (SageMaker) , GCP (Vertex AI) , or Azure ML Studio .
Data Proficiency: Expertise in working with unstructured and structured data, leveraging tools like Pandas , NumPy , and distributed data systems such as Apache Spark or Dask .
Algorithm & Optimization Skills:
Familiarity with techniques such as adversarial training , transfer learning , self-supervised learning , and contrastive learning .
Understanding of gradient-based optimization, meta-learning, and hyperparameter tuning using frameworks like Optuna or Weights & Biases (W&B) .
Soft Skills:
Exceptional problem-solving abilities and aptitude for breaking down complex challenges into actionable solutions.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
Leadership experience in driving projects from conception to delivery while mentoring junior engineers and data scientists.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced Degree: Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, AI, Mathematics, or a related field.
Publications & Patents: Authored papers in top AI/ML conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, CVPR, ICML) or held patents in generative AI technologies.
Multimodal AI Knowledge: Experience building cross-domain generative systems, e.g., combining text-to-image or speech-to-text models.
Familiarity with privacy-preserving AI techniques and ethical considerations for Generative AI systems.
