Requirements

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  •    Mechanical Design:
    • Design and develop mechanical enclosures, housings, and internal structures for embedded electronic devices
    • Create 3D CAD models and detailed technical drawings.
    • Select materials and components based on performance, reliability, and cost considerations.
    • Conduct thermal analysis and simulations to ensure optimal heat dissipation.
  • Prototyping and Testing
  • Build and test mechanical prototypes to validate design concepts and identify potential issues.
  • Conduct environmental and reliability testing to ensure product robustness.
  • Collaborate with the testing team to define and execute mechanical test plans.

  • Manufacturing Support:
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to ensure a smooth transition from design to production.
  • Provide technical support during the manufacturing process to address any mechanical issues.

  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in mechanical engineering and manufacturing techniques.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for design optimisation and cost reduction.

KEY COMPETENCIES:

·       Education:  Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

Experience:

o   4 to 6 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably for embedded electronic products.

o   Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, etc.) including surface modelling.

o   Hands-on experience with prototyping and mechanical testing.

o   Experience with global teams is highly valuable.

Skills:

o   Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials science, thermal management and manufacturing processes, in particular injection moulding.

o   Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

o   Effective communication and collaboration skills.

o   Familiarity with thermal management techniques is a plus.

o   It is beneficial to have an understanding of electronics packaging and PCB layout considerations.

o   Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) software is considered an additional asset.

o   Good to have familiarity with regulatory compliance standards for electronic products.

o   Good to have Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
