Responsibilities

  • In the audit setting, review real estate valuation projects for the following purpose under US GAAP and/or IFRSs: Business Combinations (ASC 805), Asset Acquisitions (ASC 820), and more.
  • Participate in all aspects of the audit assist process from the initial inquiry/scoping through memo deliverables and file maintenance.
  • Review, develop, and utilize financial models associated with the three primary approaches to value (cost, sales comparison, and income approaches) to determine the reasonableness of the value indications being reviewed.
  • Compose audit memos in support of real estate valuation reviews.
  • Train and guide analysts and review their work to ensure quality control.
  • Participate in innovation and template-building efforts to strengthen models and processes and ensure top audit quality.
  • Write narrative real estate appraisal reports in support of valuation analyses.
  • Research and analyze market conditions and trends to develop valuation opinions.
  • Be accessible and responsive to client needs.
  • Stay aware of, and comply with all applicable laws and regulations, as well as firm policies/procedures.

Requirements

  • 2 6 years progressively responsible real estate valuation experience within a Big 4 or Top 25 accounting firm, or international real estate appraisal firm/valuation practice.
  • Bachelors degree, preferably in business, accounting, finance, statistics, mathematics, real estate, or engineering.
  • Competent in all three approaches to value (Sales Comparison, Income, and Cost approaches).
  • Prior experience performing audit reviews under US GAAP is required
  • Relevant valuation designation(s) ASA, MAI, or progress toward one or more of these
  • Must be willing to work US hours
  • Proficient in Word and Excel.
  • Experience in financial modeling for commercial real property types (office, industrial, retail, and/or multifamily).
  • Excellent communications skills; professional presentation skills; self-starter; cooperative attitude; and team player.
  • Detail oriented; deadline driven; adaptive; flexible; problem solver; and responsive.
