Role & responsibilities

  • Review and accurately assign CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes for anaesthesia services and related procedures.
  • Validate and audit provider documentation to ensure coding compliance with CMS, AMA, and payer-specific guidelines.
  • Perform regular audits and quality checks to ensure coding accuracy and reduce claim denials.
  • Collaborate with physicians, billers, and other team members to resolve documentation or coding discrepancies.
  • Stay current with coding changes, payer updates, and compliance regulations in anaesthesia.
  • Train and mentor junior coders, contributing to team growth and knowledge sharing.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in anaesthesia coding.
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent certification required.
  • In-depth knowledge of anaesthesia modifiers, time units, and surgical procedure coding.
  • Strong understanding of federal/state regulations, payer guidelines, and medical terminology.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Experience in RCM workflows, coding audits, and denial management.

  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and coding software.
  • Ability to handle a high-volume workload with precision and efficiency.
