Position: Assistant Professor - Architecture (Specialization in Structures and Structural Design)

Department: Apeejay Institute of Technology - School of Architecture and Planning

Location: Apeejay Institute of Technology, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh

Position Overview:

The Assistant Professor will be responsible for delivering high-quality academic Lectures/teachings in the field of structures and structural design to undergraduate students in the Architecture program. This role involves curriculum development, research guidance, and active participation in institutional activities to support the overall mission of the Institute.

Key Responsibilities

1. Academic Delivery

- Teach core subjects including Structures, Surveying, Specifications, and Estimation to undergraduate students in compliance with the AKTU syllabus.- Develop and deliver engaging course materials, including lectures, presentations, and laboratory exercises.- Evaluate student performance through assessments, sessionals, and examinations, ensuring timely submission of grades and records to the AKTU portal.

2. Student Mentorship

- Guide students on their academic journey, including advising thesis projects on large-span structures, tall buildings, and innovative architectural designs.- Make complex structural concepts relatable and applicable to architecture students, fostering a strong theoretical and practical understanding.

1. Administrative and Institutional Support

- Maintain and upload attendance records via Moodle and AKTU portals.- Prepare and submit award sheets and ensure compliance with institutional policies and timelines.- Contribute to the smooth functioning of classes and institutional events as needed.

4.Research and Development

- Engage in scholarly research in the domain of structural design and contribute to the academic community through publications and conferences.

Required Knowledge and Skills

1. Technical Expertise

- Proficient in structural engineering concepts, including IS codes, steel tables, and their application in architectural design.- Knowledge of modern surveying techniques using equipment like Total Station, Theodolite, and chain surveying tools.- Familiarity with designing large-span structures, tall buildings, and advanced architectural systems.

2.Academic Tools

- Competent in MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and other tools for preparing presentations and teaching materials.

3.Competencies

- Strong analytical skills and the ability to integrate structural principles into architectural education.- Effective communication and presentation skills to engage and inspire students.

Qualifications and Experience :

Educational Background:

- B.E./B.Tech. and M.E./M.Tech. or an Integrated M.Tech. in a relevant branch of Structural Engineering or Architecture with first-class marks or equivalent in at least one degree.- Ph.D. in a related field is desirable.

Experience:

- Prior teaching experience in a recognized Architecture program (B.Arch. courses) is preferred.- Industry experience in structural design and its applications in architecture will be an advantage.
