JD:

The purpose of the Data Migration Specialist role is to design, implement, and support data migration processes for SMR Archive As A Service (AaaS) application hosted in the cloud. The individual will be required to migrate data from various legacy applications and ensure accurate and complete data is available in the cloud platform (Solix) before the legacy application is decommissioned.

The individual will liaison with different stake holders during migration of a legacy application to Solix platform and ensure business and legal requirements are fulfilled from the subset of data migrated to the cloud.

Furthermore, the individual will work with business to generate reports as per business requirements.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, implement, and continuously expand data pipelines by performing extraction, transformation, and loading activities in coordination with projects running the migration process to AaaS.

• Gather business and legal requirements and design strategies to migrate relevant data that’s geared towards the needs of the SMR business in the AaaS.

• Support the migration projects in analysis, design and execution of the data migration process, and liaison with source system experts to translate the data in desired format.

• Investigate potential issues in coordination with responsible source systems specialists and ensure timely resolution.

• Responsible for the fine tuning of the staging area and work with other Sandvik IT group functions to ensure timely completion of the data migration tasks assigned.

• Documentation of data migration process for completeness and help business build reports on the legacy data.

• Technical coordination for delivery of the migration tasks to ensure AaaS projects are delivered on time.


Skill requirements:

SQL knowledge and DB structure

Data modelling principles

Knowledge of databases like MS SQL, DB2, SAP HANA

ETL tools like SSIS, IBM CDC etc

Interpersonal skills
