Position OverviewThe Bench Technician/Operator is responsible for hands-on assembly, wiring, testing, and inspection of Li-ion battery modules and packs. The role requires precision, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to follow engineering drawings and standard operating procedures (SOPs). This position directly supports production quality, output efficiency, and the reliability of battery packs used in EV and energy storage applications.Key Responsibilities1. Cell Preparation & InspectionInspect incoming Li-ion cells for physical defects, swelling, or irregularities. Perform cell grading based on voltage, internal resistance (IR), and capacity. Handle all cells with proper ESD and safety precautions. 2. Battery Pack AssemblyAssemble cells into holders, modules, and packs as per assembly drawings. Performspot welding , tab welding, and busbar installation. Ensure accurate alignment, spacing, insulation, and mechanical assembly of components. Apply adhesives, insulation foams, and thermal pads as required. 3. Wiring, Connections & BMS SupportInstall wiring harnesses, balance leads, thermistors, and connectors. Assist in integratingBattery Management System (BMS)components. Verify wiring correctness using continuity checks and reference diagrams. 4. Bench Testing & Quality ChecksUse tools such asmultimeters, load testers, and cell testersfor functional testing. Measure key electrical parameters: voltage, IR, current, temperature. Identify faults, troubleshoot simple issues, and perform rework under supervision. Ensure all products meet quality standards before transferring to the next stage. 5. Documentation & ReportingMaintain accurate logs of test results, assembly data, and production numbers. Fill daily checklists, inspection sheets, and work traveler documents. Report any deviations, defects, or process issues to the Production/Quality Engineer. 6. Safety & ComplianceFollow Li-ion battery safety protocols, including fire safety and high-voltage precautions. Wear PPE (safety gloves, ESD apron, face shield) at all times. Maintain a clean, organized workbench following 5S principles. 7. Equipment HandlingOperate and maintain spot welders, torque tools, heat guns, and diagnostic testers. Perform basic preventive checks and cleaning of equipment. Immediately report calibration issues, abnormal tool behavior, or breakdowns. 8. Team CollaborationCoordinate with supervisors, engineers, and quality teams for smooth workflow. Participate in training sessions for new processes or updated SOPs. Support continuous improvement initiatives in the production line.Educational RequirementsITI / Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related fields. Higher technical education is an advantage but not mandatory.Technical SkillsBasic understanding of Li-ion battery cells and components. Ability to perform spot welding and mechanical assembly. Familiarity with electrical testing tools (multimeter, tester, etc.). Ability to read and follow assembly drawings and SOPs.
