Careers Counsellor Position Type School Operations Commence Date 19 Jan 2026 Employment Status Permanent / Ongoing FTE/Hours per week Part Time Subject(s)/Grade Education Support Officer, Grade 6 Role Details Xavier College  is excited to offer a newly created position for a highly motivated and organised Careers Counsellor  to join our Two Wells  (R-10) campus. This key role will support and inspire students as they explore pathways beyond school, including tertiary education and employment options. Working closely with the SACE Flexible Pathways Coordinator and the wider Flexible Pathways team, you will ensure that students receive personalised, professional, and future-focused career advice and transition support. As the Careers Counsellor , you will: Deliver a professional, student-centred careers counselling service Inspire student engagement with future career and education pathways Provide tailored career advice aligned with individual goals and interests Support SACE subject selection to align with university, VET, or employment outcomes Conduct one-on-one counselling sessions and develop personalised pathway plans Facilitate engaging workshops on resume writing, job applications, and interview skills For more information about the role and professional responsibilities, please view the available Position Information Document: ********************************************************> About You We are seeking a passionate and proactive professional who thrives on supporting and guiding young people through their career development journey. You are someone who builds strong, positive relationships and collaborates effectively to support student success. You will bring: Experience in career counselling or adolescent career guidance (highly desirable) A relevant Higher Education qualification (e.g., degree) with demonstrated knowledge and experience. Professional membership with the Career Development Association of Australia (or willingness to obtain). Exceptional interpersonal skills to influence and motive others, with the ability to foster positive connections with students, staff, families and the wider community. A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders. Sound knowledge of SACE, VET, university admissions processes, and career planning tools.
