Job Specification for Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) - Futures First

Skills and Experience Required:

  • 4+ years of experience in a Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) or DevOps role.
  • Strong expertise in managing high-performance, low-latency distributed systems, particularly within the financial sector.
  • Proficiency with HashiCorp Consul.
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring and alerting tools, specifically Prometheus and Grafana, along with a solid understanding of best practices in this area.
  • Proficiency in Bash, Python, YAML, and experience with Configuration and Secret Management.
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems and related technologies such as gRPC and Kafka.
  • Experience in setting up and configuring Continuous Integration (CI) systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems and shell scripting.
  • Familiarity with networking concepts, including DNS, SSL/TLS, TCP/IP, and UDP (both Unicast and Multicast).
  • Experience with logging, monitoring, and tracing tools like Elasticsearch and Kibana (ELK stack).
  • Familiarity with the FIX protocol.
  • Experience with Lightstreamer and real-time market data feeds advantageous.
  • Proficiency with Terraform, Kubernetes, Kustomize, and Helm Charts.

  • Collaborate with a diverse set of stakeholders beyond formal management structures, contributing independently to the team's objectives.
  • Oversee the monitoring of both internal and production environments, ensuring their reliability and performance.
  • Manage the release process, while also implementing robust monitoring systems and metrics for the trading infrastructure.
  • Enhance developer tooling, assist in building Docker images, and manage CI pipelines to automate quality testing.
  • Analyze and identify potential risks of downtime, devising solutions to mitigate them effectively.
  • Support a globally distributed team, working remotely across multiple time zones.

  • You will work autonomously, engaging with various stakeholders to achieve key objectives and ensure the continuous improvement and stability of the Core Trading Services.
