Job Overview:

CNLABS, an independent and vendor-neutral interoperability lab, is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Hardware Debug Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hardware design, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting, as well as an in-depth understanding of embedded systems and electronic components.

The role involves focusing on Product Certifications and Regulatory Compliance, working closely with other network test engineers to ensure that hardware products meet quality and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Hardware Debugging & Troubleshooting:Analyze, diagnose, and troubleshoot hardware issues in PCBs, microprocessors, and other electronic components.Identify root causes of failures and implement corrective actions to resolve hardware problems.Use oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other test equipment for diagnostics.

Soldering & Assembly:Perform precision soldering of electronic components on PCBs, including surface-mount technology (SMT) and through-hole soldering.Assemble and solder complex circuits, cables, and connectors in accordance with blueprints, schematicsEnsure proper thermal management during soldering to avoid damage to components or boardsUse tools like magnifiers and microscopes to ensure quality soldering work.Perform rework and repair of soldered connections as needed to meet quality standards.Follow all safety protocols related to handling electronic components, soldering equipment, and hazardous materials (e.g., lead-based solder).

Testing & Validation:Assist in creating and executing test plans and documenting test results.Debug hardware-software integration issues.Provide feedback on layout and design documentation.

Documentation:Prepare detailed debug and failure analysis reports.Maintain up-to-date documentation for testing procedures and outcomes.Provide feedback on product design improvements based on findings during the debug process.Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to engineering teams and management.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education:

Bachelor's or Diploma in Electrical and Electronics/ Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:Minimum 2-5 years of experience in hardware debugging, testing, or a similar role.Experience in troubleshooting and debugging hardware at the board and system level.2 - 5 years of hands-on experience in soldering, electronic assembly, or a similar role.Experience working with both SMT and through-hole soldering techniques.Familiarity with lead-free and leaded soldering processes.

Technical Skills:Strong understanding of electronic circuits, PCB layout, and embedded systems.Proficient in using lab equipment like oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, etc.Knowledge of schematic and layout design tools (e.g., Altium, OrCAD, or equivalent).Familiarity with hardware protocols (e.g., SPI, I2C, UART, PCIe, USB, Ethernet).Proficiency in using soldering irons, heat guns, microscopes, and other tools required for PCB assembly.Strong understanding of electronic components, circuits, and wiring diagrams.Knowledge of IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 standards for soldering quality.Experience with programming/scripting languages (e.g., Python, C) is a plus.

Soft Skills:Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.Attention to detail and an ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:Familiarity with regulatory standards and testing (e.g., FCC, CE, RoHS).Knowledge of FPGA or ASIC debugging.
