As a Financial Planning & Analysis Associate at Hunger Inc. Hospitality, you will eat, sleep, and breathe numbers, and be able to communicate them via digestible insights across brands (starting with Bombay Sweet Shop) and functions. This will be a cross-functional role, covering business and campaign forecasting, and driving data analytics across products and distribution channels.
You should be able to:
Strategically forecast and monitor Bombay Sweet Shop’s performance keeping overall profitability in mind.
Communicate your insights with business leaders and ensure alignment to plans.
Understand consumer behavior and trends across products and distribution channels that will help influence key business growth decisions for the company.
This role will report to the COO of Hunger Inc. and will work out of our Head Office in Lal Baug (Mumbai), and out of our brand locations as required.
Hunger Inc. is a proudly Indian hospitality company that owns well-loved brands such as the Bombay Canteen, O Pedro, Bombay Sweet Shop, and Veronica’s.
Our flagship restaurant, The Bombay Canteen showcases the wealth of India’s cuisine by recreating local, seasonal dishes and reinterpreting age-old Indian culinary traditions in a frequently changing menu. Our next venture, O Pedro, pays homage to the energy of Goa with a menu that brings back the fun of tropical living with simple, sophisticated food and drink, with influences from the state’s Portuguese history. Bombay Sweet Shop is a modern-day mithai shop that brings back the magic of mithai in a never seen before avatar, in a fun and contemporary way, while staying deeply rooted in traditions and techniques. Our online venture - enthucutlet is a bimonthly food mag that brings you unusual stories about food in India, and our all-day cafe Veronica's, holds a piece of Mumbai's heart in the iconic Jude Bakery, and showcases the best sandwiches, coffee, bakes, and wine Our newest restaurant, Papa's launched in February 2024, boldly breaks the rules of Indian cuisine and fine dining to offer an elevated and adventurous interpretation of its comforting forms and flavors.
The Bombay Canteen, O Pedro, and Veronica's are currently ranked among India's top 10 restaurants by Condé Nast Traveler India.
Responsibilities:
Business Planning and Forecasting
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts, incorporating input from various departments and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
Coordinate with leadership across departments to align goals, translating overarching revenue targets into specific success metrics for each department.
Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of financial performance, including revenue, expenses, and profitability metrics
Variance Analysis: Identify and investigate variances between actual financial results and budget/forecast projections
KPI Tracking: Maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) for each business segment, tracking performance against targets and benchmarks.
Reporting: Prepare comprehensive financial reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting key performance indicators, trends, and areas of concern.
Customer Data and Analytics
Drive optimization of distribution channels and products
Spearhead data and analytics at a parent company and brand level, working closely with data analyst/s
Gather insights from data to ensure operational efficiency and enable the team to curate better products.
New expansion channels
Work with business leaders to brainstorm and plan out new projects, for example launch of a new outlet or a new distribution channel
Requirements
Qualifications:
3 - 6 years experience.
A Bachelor's degree / MBA in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
Ability to work in a fast-growing, dynamic company. Prior experience in a startup, venture capital, or an FP&A function is a bonus.
Excellent communication and coordination skills, capable of working effectively across different teams.
High level of initiative, detail-oriented, and a team player with a positive attitude.
