Role & responsibilities

OS and DB Server installation / Re-Installation.

• Installations/Re-installation & Configuration of OS as per requirement with Hyper-V or VMWare Virtualization.
• Patch Management (Update / Preview / Rollback) at hardware & OS & DB level.
• Timely Implementation & Closure of Audit/VAPT recommendations, misconfigurations on OS/Hardware/DB /Middleware/Servers.
• VAPT Closures, OS hardening, OS Patching, Upgrade at OS level/version, Firmware level & Hardware level, OS Troubleshooting.
• Hardening of Servers, Carrying Server Configurations, Patching of Server so that it complies with Bank's security policy & Audit observations.
• Extra VM/LPAR/LDOM/VSAN-Node Creation and/or Deletion.
• Cluster Deployment and Formation (2 or 3 node, Active/Passive).
• Upgrade/Downgrade of OS and firmware for in place upgrades from Lower to Higher Stable Version (or vice versa) on servers and hardware.
• Installation, configuration and troubleshooting of Runtimes and middlewares like IIS etc.
• Creation of MS-SQL SERVER databases as and when required.
• Monitor & create MS-SQL Server Replication, functioning and related parameters
• MS-SQL Database installation, configuration, clusterization & performance tuning and response monitoring.
• Resolution of DB Crash / Rebuild due to Incident
• Resolution of DB Instance Hung/Terminated unexpectedly
• Ensure up-to-date DB security patches are applied and verified
• Server Installation, Reinstallation and configuration due to incident
• Orderly startup and shutdown of Windows/MS-SQL SERVER listener services, databases and database servers.
• Define Administrator / Supervisor Password restrictions
• Volume Management, File System Management, Console Management
• Review of daily/weekly/monthly checklist
• Fine tuning for optimum performance.
• User management Creation and deletion of users, groups, required login scripts
• Monitor CPU, Kernel, disk, memory, I/O and all other important system parameters, server/storage usage and utilization statistics
• Create and maintain secure NFS and all other file system mounts (NFS Network File System)
• Check for bad blocks and bad processes. Check for crash dumps / panics and resolve them
• Verify system/storage logs and periodically clean up log files
• OS performance tuning and response monitoring
• Monitoring and troubleshooting of network connectivity of all servers
• Installation, configuration and administration of all other supplied software like File System, Volume Manager, Backup Software, Cluster software, Management Software, Storage Management Software etc
• Monitoring & Managing Disk space, Processor Utilization, Network Utilization related to serves.
• Event log analysis at regular interval for maintaining the integrity of servers
• Repeat Incident / Alert Analysis
• Managing /configuring of servers on AD & DNS
• Cluster Administration/Installation/Re-installation of Windows OS and MS-SQL DB.
• Managing / reconfiguring terminal services, cluster services, file servers
• Necessary support for restoration, change management activities, downtimes and during DC-DR drills.
• Capacity planning related to hardware
• Preparation of MIR /RCA for Major Incidents
• Vendor coordination
• Ensure up-to-date DB security patches are applied and verified
• Various types of database backups and all applications
• Incident / Request Fulfillment / Change management
