Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Azure Migration Lead with deep expertise in VMware HCX and Azure Migrate to drive large-scale migration initiatives from on-premises VMware environments to Azure VMware Solution (AVS) and native Azure. This role demands hands-on experience with cloud migration strategies, tools, and methodologies to ensure a seamless, secure, and efficient migration process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead End-to-End Cloud Migrations: Design, plan, and execute migration strategies for VMware workloads using HCX Manager and Azure Migrate.
  • AVS Integration: Manage Azure VMware Solution deployments, networking, and hybrid connectivity between on-premises VMware and Azure.
  • HCX Implementation & Optimization: Configure VMware HCX for workload mobility, network extension, and seamless cutover to Azure.
  • Migration Assessments & Planning: Conduct detailed assessments of workloads, dependencies, and performance requirements using Azure Migrate and other tools.
  • Automation & IaC: Implement Terraform, ARM/Bicep templates, or PowerShell for provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure.
  • Networking & Security: Ensure secure hybrid connectivity, identity management, and compliance alignment with Azure Landing Zone best practices.
  • Performance Optimization & Troubleshooting: Monitor and optimize compute, storage, and network performance throughout the migration lifecycle.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with Cloud Architects, Security Teams, and Application Owners to align migration goals with business needs.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Develop migration playbooks, best practices, and training materials for internal teams.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • 8+ years of experience in cloud migration, VMware virtualization, and Azure infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with VMware HCX (Mobility Groups, Bulk Migration, vMotion, Replication Assisted vMotion, Network Extension).
  • Expertise in Azure Migrate for discovery, assessment, and migration of VMs, databases, and applications.
  • Strong understanding of AVS, VMware vSphere, vCenter, and NSX-T networking.
  • Experience in hybrid networking (ExpressRoute, VPN, HCX Interconnects) and security hardening.
  • Proficiency in Terraform, ARM templates, PowerShell, and Azure CLI.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and performance tuning skills in VMware and Azure environments.
  • Strong project management and stakeholder communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Azure certifications: AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-700, AZ-400.
  • Experience with VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) and disaster recovery planning.
