Role & responsibilities

Teaching responsibilities

  • Teach students about skin conditions, treatments, and procedures
  • Stay current on the latest treatment methods

Research responsibilities Participate in studies and Attend conferences and seminars.

Other responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of patient care plans
  • Provide expert advice on skincare and prevention methods
  • Perform minor surgeries, such as mole, cyst, or wart removals
  • Conduct biopsies
  • Monitor patients' progress through follow-up visits
  • Refer patients to other specialists as needed
  • Document and review patients' histories
  • Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Prescribe and administer antibiotics, antiseptics, or compresses to treat infections or injuries

Dermatologists specialize in skin health and diagnose, treat, and prescribe medications for skin conditions and illnesses. They work with a variety of skin conditions, from mild ones (e.g. sunburn) to severe ones (e.g. skin cancer).
