Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • for the industrialisation of EV components. This involves working with the EV powertrain components (inverters and chargers) manufacturing suppliers across the globe to deliver components to meet quality, time, cost, weight, timing and functional targets.
  • for leading and supporting our various prototype phases by proactively resolving any prototype build issues.
  • for design for manufacturing (DFM) by overseeing the integration of various EV components and ensuring that the manufacturing processes of all EV components and assemblies align to the Bill of Process and standards set down by Manufacturing and Company Quality
  • the prototype to volume production engineering gaps for powertrain components such as inverters and chargers.
  • the Design and Release of one or more products across various EV powertrain programmes.
  • of Product Engineering eAPQP deliverable activities, status reporting and Smart sheet (Component Delivery Timing Plan) management in line with PPAP
  • DFMEA, Design Rules, Requirement Management and Design Verification (RMDV), Statement of Work process/documents are diligently and transparently implemented in the design condition at the appropriate design maturity gateways.
  • issue resolution (AIMS/JIRA Obstacles/impediments). Drive the resolution of cross functional technical / manufacturing issues using a Global 8D process.
  • component change management processes to ensure that all changes are implemented robustly.
  • with the operational business to understand current processes and to document and prioritise requirements for changes and additions.
  • of required Governance, including milestone reporting, project status reporting, and risk and issue management.
  • all appropriate JLR standards are met through-out design maturation and assist in developing specific or new standards.
  • Agile project management principles in order to develop more effective and efficient ways of working.
  • stakeholders to ensure projects add value and are aligned to stakeholder expectations.


Skills, experience and qualifications

  • or higher in relevant engineering discipline or in associated subjects such as electrical or electronics engineering.
  • years of industry experience in design, development and productization of power electronics and electronic products in automotive, aerospace or traction applications
  • experience specifying and designing low voltage, high voltage and control hardware.
  • knowledge of typical BEV, MHEV and PHEV system solutions and technologies.
  • designed the hardware for more than one application, at least one of which was for a vehicle application and will have experienced putting the design into production.
  • lead component change management processes to ensure that all changes are implemented robustly.
  • in Technical evaluation of supplier submittals
  • working knowledge of the design and release process
  • of process development of complex technology projects from conception through to Implementation
  • knowledge and practical deployment of Lean tools and demonstrated experience in process/value stream mapping.
  • skills to break down complex, multidimensional problems or processes and drive improvement ideas from concept to reality.
  • to evaluate capacity at a facility and workstation level.
  • in design for manufacturing and design to cost and value engineering.
  • of meeting deadlines. Experience of Change Management. working knowledge of problem resolution techniques e.g. 8D. RCCA etc
  • of design FMEA’s, working Knowledge of Problem Resolution Techniques e.g. 8D, Root cause corrective actions, fish bone approach
  • ability to understand commodity timing plans (including Design Verification plans, programme plans and supplier timing plans)
