Roles and Responsibilities for the Fundraising & Grant Manager:

The Fundraising & Grant Manager would have the responsibility to manage reporting and M&E for existing grants while also undertake fund raising activities via CSR Grants and Individual Donors as required to scale up and implement the various programmes of CSM. The role would thus involve:

1. Fundraising Strategy Development: Design and implement innovative strategies to develop fundraising channels particularly for the domestic fundraising opportunities, including grants, CSR funding, individual donations through direct mail, digital campaigns, events, and corporate partnerships. Identify, cultivate, and secure funding opportunities with high-net-worth individuals (HNIs), CSR initiatives, and institutional donors. Conduct market research to identify trends, donor preferences, and emerging fundraising opportunities.

2. Concept Note & Proposal development: Supporting the development of proposals for HNI donations, CSR projects and domestic and international Grants with inputs for detailed proposal writing, budgeting planned activities and developing suitable results frameworks and logframes. Build on the existing proposals, presentations and programme information developed across the following impact areas to align with the objectives and priorities of donors:

a. Afforestation, Climate Action and Biodiversity Conservation in the Western and Eastern Ghats of India

b. Promoting Sustainability Education across schools and higher education

c. Promoting sustainable livelihoods for smallholder farmer

d. Promoting adoption of sustainable production practices by MSMEs in India.

e. Promoting sustainable consumption and reducing waste by consumers in food and fashion value chains.

f. Other programmatic interventions being developed by the organisation.

3. Donor engagement and Relationship Management: Develop and maintain relationships with individual donors, corporates, and foundations to foster long-term support. Use existing contacts and build a pipeline of Corporate CSR donors and HNI individual donors willing to support CSM’s programmes. Contact and engage with prospective Corporate donors for CSR grants, HNI individuals, Connecting with decision-makers in donor organizations and pitching CSM programmes to be funded. Manage donor communications, ensuring timely acknowledgment, regular updates, and engagement opportunities.

4. Grant Management: Based on the commitments made in the proposals for the existing grants, collate, monitor and report on the programme activities, outputs and outcomes for the ongoing projects being undertaken by CSM. Co-ordinate with the programme and finance teams to complete narrative reporting, log-frame completion with the associated back-up data in place. Co-ordinate with the project manager to support with all interim data and reporting requirements and

5. Donor Reporting and Compliance: Prepare high-quality donor reports, providing updates on the impact of their contributions and overall program achievements. Ensure compliance with statutory regulations related to donations and grants and other legal requirements related to fundraising in India. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of donations and donor information in the Organisation system. Support the donor reporting, monitoring and evaluation, data collation and impact reporting for projects being implemented by CSM.

6. Collaboration and Capacity Building: Work closely with program teams to gather data, case studies, and success stories to support fundraising and reporting efforts. Train and mentor junior staff or volunteers involved in fundraising activities. Build and manage relationships with external vendors and consultants, such as event organizers or digital marketing agencies.

7. Performance Analysis and Reporting: Monitor and analyze the performance of fundraising campaigns and channels, providing actionable insights to improve efficiency and outcomes.Prepare regular reports for senior management on fundraising progress and projections.

Skill and Experience Specification

• Proven experience of fundraising for the not-for-profit sector from the domestic donors, targeting Foundations, SME CSR programmes; Large Corporations across various programmes and HNI Individual donors.

• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

• Experience in writing proposals and developing collaterals for fundraising.

• Self-driven and target oriented with a proven track record of setting realistic targets and achieving fundraising milestones.

• Ability to network and build relationships with key decision makers at donor organisations

• Track record in grant management and reporting.

• Ability to customise proposals to align organisation objectives with the donor priorities and areas of focus.

• Experience of working with start-up/ small organisation environment

• Ability to craft compelling donor communications and to write donor reports, data collection systems linked programme activities and completing donor reports.

• Self-driven, results-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

• Languages – English, Hindi, One or more South Indian Languages (Kannada / Tamil / Malayalam/Telugu).

• Bachelor's/Master's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Social Work, or a related field.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising, marketing, or related roles, preferably in the non-profit sector.

• Experience working with CSR donors, HNIs, and foundations in India is a strong advantage.

Remuneration

• Remuneration would be competitive and as per the Not-for-profit sector standard for a role with similar complexity and would also be based on the candidates experience domain expertise. Candidates willing to work on a success based model of fixed salary and success-based bonus would be preferred.
