About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and highly motivated Software Test Engineer to join our team and contribute to the quality assurance of SONiC NOS. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that SONiC delivers robust, scalable, and high-performance networking solutions enterprise data centers.
The Aviz Team You’ll be joining a dynamic team of engineers and innovators who have built data platforms for  AWS ,  Microsoft , and  Nvidia , cloud mobility platforms at  MobileIron, and robust network infrastructures at  Cisco and  Gigamon  and are bringing their expertise in building AI-Native apps networking. We’re dedicated to advancing technology and fostering your professional and personal growth in a supportive, collaborative environment.
Job Description:
Test Development : Design and develop test cases for new features and functionalities in SONiC NOS, focusing on networking protocols, system performance, and hardware compatibility.
Automation : Create and maintain automated test scripts using frameworks like Pytest, Robot Framework, or equivalent to streamline testing processes.
System Validation : Perform end-to-end validation of SONiC across different hardware platforms and ASICs, ensuring reliability and compatibility.
Debugging and Troubleshooting : Identify, isolate, and debug defects in the software stack, and collaborate with development teams to resolve them.
Performance Testing : Conduct benchmarking, stress testing, and scalability testing to ensure SONiC meets enterprise-grade performance standards.
Regression Testing : Maintain and enhance regression test suites to ensure consistent quality across releases.
Open Source Contributions : Participate in the SONiC open-source community by reporting issues, suggesting enhancements, and contributing to test infrastructure improvements.
Documentation : Provide detailed test plans, test results, and defect reports to stakeholders.
Qualifications Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
3+ years of experience in software testing, quality assurance, or a related role in networking or operating systems.
Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols such as BGP, OSPF, VXLAN, EVPN and more.
Proficiency in scripting languages like Python or Bash for test automation.
Familiarity with test tools like Wireshark, tcpdump, and network performance testing tools (e.g., iPerf, Spirent, IXIA).
Preferred Qualifications Experience with SONiC NOS or similar open networking software.
Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks such as Pytest, Robot Framework.
Knowledge of containerized environments and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Familiarity with Linux-based systems and networking stack (e.g., iptables).
Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, using tools like Jenkins or GitLab CI/CD.
Knowledge of open-source collaboration platforms such as GitHub.
