Position Title: Curriculum Head / Academic Head Reporting to: Head of School Location: North Bangalore Position Type: Full-time

Role Overview

The Curriculum Head / Academic Head is a key member of the school's leadership team, responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating the academic programs across the dual curricula — ICSE and IB (MYP and DP). The role ensures alignment between the school's educational philosophy, local and international curriculum standards, and contemporary pedagogical practices, promoting high-quality teaching and learning outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Development & Implementation

•

Lead the development and articulation of the school's academic vision across ICSE and IB programmes.

•

Ensure curriculum mapping, vertical and horizontal alignment, and smooth transitions between ICSE and IB pathways.

•

Oversee curriculum documentation, including scope and sequence, unit plans, and assessment frameworks for all grade levels.

•

Guide subject Leads and teachers in designing engaging, inquiry-based, and differentiated learning experiences.

•

Stay abreast of updates in ICSE and IB curriculum frameworks and integrate changes into school practices. Academic Leadership & Pedagogy

•

Promote a culture of excellence, innovation, and reflective practice among faculty.

•

Lead pedagogical training sessions and professional development aligned with both ICSE and IB standards.

•

Support and mentor teachers in implementing student-centred, inquiry-based, and transdisciplinary learning approaches.

•

Facilitate collaborative planning meetings for interdisciplinary and cross-curricular initiatives.

Assessment & Data-Driven Improvement

•

Develop and oversee assessment policies that comply with ICSE and IB requirements.

•

Analyse student achievement data to identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement.

•

Implement strategies for academic intervention and enrichment based on data insights.

•

Ensure robust preparation and compliance for external examinations and moderation processes.

Programme Coordination & Compliance

•

Serve as the key point of contact for IB MYP and DP programme authorization, evaluation, and ongoing compliance.

•

Oversee documentation and reporting requirements for ICSE and IB boards.

•

Collaborate with stage coordinator to manage timelines, deadlines, and communications related to curriculum and assessment.

Stakeholder Engagement

•

Communicate effectively with parents, students, and the school community about academic programs, expectations, and outcomes.

•

Organize parent orientation sessions and workshops about curriculum pathways and choices.

•

Foster strong relationships with external educational bodies, examination boards, and professional networks.

Operational & Strategic Leadership

•

Contribute to strategic planning and school improvement initiatives.

•

Assist in appraisal of teaching staff, ensuring alignment with curriculum needs.

•

Assist the Head of School in the recruitment of staff ensuring alignment with curriculum needs

•

Plan departmental budgets related to curriculum resources and professional development.

Qualifications & Experience

•

Postgraduate degree in Education or relevant field.

•

Teaching certification (preferably for both national and international contexts).

•

Minimum 8-10 years of teaching experience, with at least 3-5 years in curriculum leadership or academic coordination.

•

Proven experience with both ICSE and IB (MYP and/or DP) curricula is highly desirable.

•

Strong understanding of inquiry-based learning, differentiation, and contemporary educational trends.

•

Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

•

Capacity to lead and inspire diverse teams.
