The Team
As part of the Core Business Operations group, Deloitte has a dedicated public finance team focusing on providing consulting services to governments in India and the Asia Pacific. The team also collaborates with other Deloitte firms in Africa and Middle Eastern geographies.
Public finance is crucial for the development of a nation as it deals with taxation and expenditure of different civic organizations. Public Financial Management has evolved into an effective tool for driving public sector performance, and enhancing transparency and accountability in policy making and implementation.
The team provides advisory services in the areas of Fiscal Policy, Public Expenditure Reforms, Revenue Administration Reforms, Economic & fiscal Analysis, and Medium Term Expenditure based frameworks and Debt Management.
Work you’ll do
You will be working on solving full spectrum of client challenges in the area of financial management, fiscal policy, budgeting, revenue administration, and economic & fiscal data analysis across a wide range of clients including the public sector and all levels of Governments, global funding agencies such as the World Bank, ADB, and USAID etc.
You will not just be working on ideas and recommendations to solve the client’s challenges, in most cases you would also be working with the client in implementing those recommendations.
Continuous learning at a team level and at an individual level will be your responsibility and ensuring that you have lots of fun while doing all this is our responsibility.
Your Prime Responsibilities
Project Delivery: Supporting specialists on projects preparing reports and conducting client meetings; understanding client requirements, project scope and deliverable requirements; following Assess-Design-Develop-Deliver-Monitor process in various work modules of the project; working across diverse teams and supporting in detailed research, analysis and ideation exercises. Business Development: Sector research, opportunity tracking, client presentation preparation, client requirement analysis, proposal preparation, proposal presentation, business growth analysis, etc. Practice Development: Learning and development initiatives, support in / acting as Change Catalyst to the team/project/organization. Thought Leadership: Research, analysis and delivery of thought leadership reports (global and domestic) capturing Deloitte’s unique points of view on topical issues with guidance from senior practitioners.Skills Required
Basic awareness of public finance and macroeconomics Ability to take up Economic and fiscal analysis, knowledge of statistics and advanced skills in MS Excel Knowledge of using statistical packages such as Stata, R, Python is desirable Strong research and analytical skills, macroeconomic modelling and problem-solving capabilities Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) Adept at picking up new concepts quickly A thorough team player Out-of-box thinking Adaptability to long term travel and changeLocation
While you would be based out of one of our offices in Kolkata or Gurgaon, the profile requires extensive long term travel to project locations outside the base location.
