About OMI Foundation:
OMI Foundation is a new-age policy research and social innovation think tank developing knowledge frameworks at the intersection of mobility innovation and public good. Our interdisciplinary work is housed across three centres: The Centres for Future Mobility, Clean Mobility, and Inclusive Mobility. We develop evidence-based policy recommendations on the themes of sustainable urban mobility, electric mobility, energy and mobility, accessibility and inclusion, and the future of work and platform economy.
Key Responsibilities:
As an integral part of the OMI team, you will be supporting the Centre for Future Mobility on the subjects of Mobility innovation, policy, transition and data through research on the overall sector. Your scope of work includes:
Research and creating knowledge products (80% of the time)
1. Conduct relevant, cutting-edge, and scientifically robust research and analysis to navigate issues and developments in urban mobility and communicate it in the most effective and interesting manner by using creative mediums without any speed breakers.2. Assess the various trends and changes in policy landscape and technology that impacts mobility in cities. Use data and strong narrative to appraise stakeholders (policymakers, academia, industry, civic society) to enable change. Change is the only constant and adoption is key to acclimatise, though the speed of execution and its effectiveness matter.3. Support the development and analysis of knowledge frameworks taking the shape of flagship reports, AI/ML-powered tools and dashboards, white papers, issue briefs, policy briefs, opinion editorial, illustrations etc. Speed of delivery depends on the length of journey, volume of goods, and the cost to deliver.4. Curate methods to co-create measures that leave a mark. The threads of tyres are to ensure grip but also to pave the way for a bright future. Pioneering change by demonstration in a long winding road is successful when reached swiftly but safely.
Outreach and communications (20% of the time)
1. Contribute and guide the policies on adoption of OMI’s knowledge frameworks through sustained engagement.2. Foster and strengthen relationships with different tiers of governments on projects OMI can implement and demonstrate tangible impact.3. Produce collateral to communicate research outcomes and analytical content to different stakeholders including media, government, academia, senior management and donors.4. Advance collective understanding on future mobility through curation of policy dialogues, participation at events hosted by relevant stakeholders, release of multimedia content like explainer videos and podcasts, publishing of opinion editorials in the media, engagements on social media, etc.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Relevant experience (0-2 years for senior associate, and 3-5 years for assistant manager) in policy research roles related to the mobility domain.2. Demonstrated exceptional ability (through published work, articles, etc.) to express and comprehend effectively.3. Strong analytical research skills and aptitude along with basic understanding of statistical concepts and techniques.4. Comfort with quantitative data analysis using tools like R/SPSS/SATA5. Outstanding written and oral communications and editing skills; proven ability to position issues effectively, using illustration, oral and written.6. Highly organised and detail-oriented thinker who can multitask competing priorities.7. Undergraduate degree in planning, architecture and engineering will be preferable.8. A Masters' Degree in Planning, Public Policy, Technology and/or related discipline will be an added advantage.
