As a Principal Backend Software Engineer at Optym India, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining our backend systems. You will lead a team of talented engineers, driving technical excellence and ensuring the scalability, reliability, and performance of our software products. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions that meet the needs of our customers and propel our company forward.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable, high-performance backend systems.
  • Architect robust, maintainable, and efficient solutions that meet the technical requirements and business objectives.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to define and prioritize features, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and enforce best practices to maintain code quality and consistency.
  • Drive innovation by exploring new technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance our software development process.
  • Identify and address technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and other challenges to ensure the long-term success of our systems.
  • Champion engineering best practices, standards, and processes to improve productivity and efficiency across the organization.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements, applying relevant knowledge to drive continuous improvement in our technology stack.
  • Collaborate effectively with distributed teams in an agile environment, delivering high-quality software on schedule.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8-10 years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on backend development.
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing scalable, distributed systems in a production environment.
  • Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, Python or similar.
  • Deep understanding of cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, data modeling, and optimization techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in distributed systems.
  • Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate team members.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working in an agile development environment, practicing continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) methodologies.
