Join W-CReS

The WOTR Centre for Resilience Studies (W-CReS), initiated in 2007 and established in 2016, is WOTR’s eminent and autonomous applied research unit.


Employing a trans-disciplinary approach, W-CReS conducts multi-stakeholder, applied research on critical, ground-level issues impacting society. W-CReS’ mission is to unravel the causal relationships and drivers of behavioural change, devise and test potent strategies for transformation, and contribute to policy enhancement and capacity building.


W-CreS works closely with civil society agencies, businesses, local, state and federal governments to achieve its mission. It has formal MOUs with leading publicly funded research and scientific institutions in India, such as the ICAR, IMD, and CRIDA. Its robust research efforts are attested to by over 200 published research papers, impact studies and socio-economic baseline studies of project villages. At W-CReS You will

  • agriculture research and implementation projects across working states
  • and perform crop modeling exercises as per the need
  • manage and summarize data across scales from on-farm field trials/observations
  • to design studies, collect and analyze data on research and implementation projects in undertaking
  • to travel and visit project implementation areas across India, as and when required to support implementation and applied research activities
  • to synthesis and publish research results in peer reviewed journals, working papers, policy briefs, and info notes, including translating these into non-scientific language for a wide range of stakeholders
  • of working with farmers, farmer groups and extension services would be an advantage
  • presentations and reports, produce written outputs of the implementation work and research outcomes
  • out any additional activities requested by project/team Leaders

Apply if you have

Ph.D. / M. Tech. / M.Sc.

  • related specialization(Preferably in Agronomy, Entomology, Agro-meteorology, Soil Science, Crop Modelling, Agricultural Statistics, Land and Water Management, Environmental engineering, Environmental science applied to Agro-ecosystems )
  • of quantitative and qualitative methods of research, including required statistical modeling/analysis
  • of carbon sequestration and emission assessment is preferable.
  • versed with applications of GIS and Remote Sensing tools in agricultural/environmental research
  • to use various crop models to assess performance of management practices, climate variations on crop yield
  • English communication skills is a must
  • of local language (Marathi/Telugu/Oriya & Hindi) is plus
  • record of publishing peer-reviewed research papers/articles
  • and/or experience in some social dimensions. Evidence of interdisciplinary, applied systems analysis desirable

For Research Associate: PhD (0 – 5 years), Masters (5 - 10 years)

For Senior Researcher: PhD (>5 years), Masters (>10 years)
