Job Description :

Thorough applied technical knowledge of the fundamental concepts and technologies associated with unix Systems Support.

Duties comprise installing the servers, Configuration updating, operating and maintaining the unix system. This professional also needs to troubleshoot and maintain the servers, the user accounts, security and is also responsible for managing the disk management as well as the backup.

The suitable candidate must be team player and have capability to handle work related task independently and collaboratively

Responsibilities :

- Responsible for all aspects of management, administration, and support of Linux/UNIX based infrastructure

- Provide feedback to architects regarding any issues that present themselves

- Work on multiple projects with various priority levels and time lines from start to finish

- Consistently meet deadlines for complex issues and new projects involving multiple teams

- Demonstrate best practices in all aspects of administration

- Participate in weekly rotating on-call responsibilities, providing 24/7 coverage

- Develop and maintain accurate documentation for internal procedures and services

- Continuously stay abreast of new developments in supported operating systems to ensure consistent compatibility with established infrastructure

- Must collaborate with other departments to resolve complex issues and be detail oriented

- Ability to automate solutions to repetitive problems/tasks

Competency /Skill Requirements :

- 3 to 5 years of experience on Management and administration of Linux and Aix Servers

- Installation Configuration Maintenance and administration of new and upgraded networks, software, applications, servers and workstations

- Diagnose, investigate and respond to system critical incidents

- Responsible for server operation related tasks: Software installation, applying crucial patches/updates, performance tuning, gathering resource utilization

- Configuration of network setup, Routing and NIC bonding/Teaming in Linux/Unix servers

- Good knowledge of the Linux Kernel & kernel modules

- Server hardening & applying security update

- Solid knowledge of protocols such as DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP and SNMP

- Exposure to Virtual environment and sound knowledge of Network storage(NAS/SAN) environment

- Providing 2nd/3rd level support services to ensure business continuity of Linux/Unix servers

- Participate in weekly rotating on-call responsibilities, providing 24/7 coverage

- Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible security breaches

- Proactively maintain and develop all Linux infrastructure technology to maintain a 24x7x365 uptime service

- Working knowledge on Scripting shell; bash shell, Korn shell etc

- Ability to automate solutions to repetitive problems/tasks

- Certification of AIX/Redhat is added advantage

Other Requirements :

- Great attitude, team player and effective contributor.

- Ability to Handle multiple tasks and projects with minimum supervision

- Good Knowledge of ITSM Processes

- Excellent written and verbal Communication Skills
