Job description:

About the Role:
We are looking for a Senior WordPress Platform Engineer with a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in developing and scaling high-performance WordPress websites, particularly for SaaS platforms. You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining custom WordPress solutions with a focus on performance, scalability, and maintainability.
This is a key technical role that involves both backend and frontend development, custom plugin creation, theme development, and deep integration with third-party tools and APIs commonly used in SaaS products.
Key Responsibilities:
Architect, develop, and maintain custom WordPress themes and plugins tailored for SaaS applications.
Optimize WordPress environments for performance, scalability, and security.
Integrate third-party APIs and services into WordPress (e.g., payment gateways, CRM tools, analytics).
Lead the development of custom features, dashboards, user onboarding systems, and subscription flows.
Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment strategies for WordPress.
Collaborate with UI/UX designers and product managers to deliver pixel-perfect, user-friendly interfaces.
Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex issues across the stack (frontend/backend).
Monitor and improve website speed, uptime, and responsiveness.
Stay up to date with the latest WordPress trends, technologies, and best practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
3+ years of professional experience in WordPress development.
Strong experience building and scaling SaaS-based websites using WordPress.
Proficiency in PHP, JavaScript (React/Vanilla), HTML5, CSS3, and MySQL.
Deep knowledge of WordPress core, theme and plugin development, and WP REST API.
Experience working with modern development tools: Git, Docker, Composer, WP-CLI, etc.
Strong understanding of web performance optimization and SEO best practices.
Experience with payment gateways (Stripe, PayPal, etc.) and membership/subscription plugins.
Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, ownership-driven attitude.
Nice to Have:
Experience with headless WordPress (e.g., using React or with WordPress).
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, DigitalOcean).
Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.

Understanding of DevOps practices and tools related to WordPress hosting.
