Field surveyor

Overview: We are seeking a skilled GIS Field Surveyor Team Lead with expertise in property tax knowledge to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geographic information systems (GIS), experience leading field survey teams, and a deep understanding of property tax assessment procedures. This role requires excellent organizational skills, leadership abilities, and proficiency in GIS software and tools.

Key Responsibilities:

1.Team Leadership:

• Lead a team of GIS field surveyors, providing guidance, training, and support.
• Coordinate field survey activities, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
• Conduct regular team meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and strategies for improvement.

2. GIS Expertise:

• Utilize GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) to analyze spatial data, create maps, and generate reports.
• Develop and maintain GIS databases, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
• Implement GIS workflows and protocols to streamline field survey operations.

3.Property Tax Knowledge:

• Apply knowledge of property tax laws, regulations, and assessment methodologies.
• Assist in property tax assessment projects, analyzing GIS data to support valuation processes.
• Collaborate with tax assessors and related professionals to ensure accurate property tax assessments.

4.Field Survey Operations:

• Plan and execute field surveys, including data collection, GPS mapping, and asset inventory.
• Monitor field survey activities to ensure compliance with project requirements and specifications.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions to optimize survey efficiency and data quality.

5.Documentation and Reporting:

• Prepare comprehensive reports, maps, and presentations based on survey findings and GIS analysis.
• Maintain accurate records of survey data, field observations, and project documentation.
• Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including management and clients.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geomatics, Environmental Science, or related field.
• Proven experience (X years) in GIS field surveying, with X years in a leadership role.
• Strong understanding of property tax assessment principles and practices.
• Proficiency in GIS software and tools (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS), including spatial analysis and database management.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to project management.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in GIS, Urban Planning, or related field.
• Professional certification (e.g., GISP) is a plus.
• Experience in real estate or property management sectors.

Working Conditions:

• This position involves both office and fieldwork.
• Occasional travel may be required to project sites or client locations.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
