Role overview and responsibilities:

Dhruva Space is seeking a skilled Satellite Power System Engineer to contribute to the design, analysis, testing, and operation of power systems for space applications, including satellites and spacecraft. The ideal candidate will work on the electrical power subsystem (EPS), focusing on power generation (solar arrays), energy storage (batteries), power conversion, distribution, and regulation. This role requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that the satellite’s power systems are optimized for efficiency, reliability, and long-term mission success.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Design and analyze satellite power systems, including power generation (solar arrays), energy storage (batteries), and power distribution.- Perform power budget analyses to ensure the satellite's electrical power subsystem (EPS) meets mission requirements throughout the mission lifecycle.- Support the development and selection of satellite power components such as solar cells, power converters, regulators, and batteries.- Assist in the design of power distribution systems, ensuring proper regulation, redundancy, and reliability for space applications- Conduct system-level performance analysis including modeling and simulation of satellite power systems using software tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, PSpice).- Collaborate with spacecraft thermal, mechanical, and systems engineers to integrate the power system with other satellite subsystems.- Participate in satellite testing campaigns, including environmental testing (thermal, vacuum, vibration) and power subsystem validation.- Support satellite mission operations, providing troubleshooting and corrective actions for power system anomalies.- Generate technical documentation including power subsystem specifications, design reports, test procedures, and results.- Ensure compliance with space industry standards and guidelines (e.g., ISRO, NASA, ESA, and MIL-STD).

Candidate requirements :

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.- 3-5 years of experience in satellite or space power systems engineering, or related power systems field.- Proficiency in power systems analysis tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, PSpice, or similar.- Familiarity with satellite power generation technologies (solar cells), energy storage systems (batteries), and power conversion electronics.- Understanding of power management strategies in harsh environments (e.g., space vacuum, radiation, thermal extremes).- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.- Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with various engineering disciplines.- Knowledge of space qualification processes and environmental testing.- Experience with space-grade power electronics, battery management systems, and power distribution units.- Familiarity with radiation-hardened components and their application in space environments- Hands-on experience in satellite testing, assembly, or integration.- Experience working with satellite mission operations or satellite control systems.- Exposure to sustainability practices in satellite design (e.g., power efficiency).
