Mercor is seeking PhD holders, doctoral candidates, and exceptional Master’s graduates in mathematics, applied Mathematics, or a related STEM field to join a high-impact AI research initiative in partnership with a leading AI lab.Key DomainsReal, Complex, & Functional AnalysisComplex Analysis / Spectrum Theory / Fourier AnalysisOrdinary & Partial Differential EquationsMathematical Physics / Partial Differential Equations / Dynamical SystemsKey ResponsibilitiesReview and audit submitted data, including prompts, solutions, final answers, references, and metadata.Evaluate task quality using structured turn-level and task-level rubrics (8–10 criteria), ensuring clarity, correctness, and logical consistency.Verify the accuracy of solutions, reasoning steps, and chain-of-thoughts, identifying flaws, gaps, or inconsistencies.Provide concise, well-reasoned written feedback to justify evaluation decisions.Work independently and asynchronously following provided tools and workflows.QualificationsPhD (candidate/recipient) or Masters in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or a related STEM field.Expertise in one or more domains, including:Mathematics: algebra, geometry, number theory, combinatorics, probability, graph theory.General domains: summarisation, open/closed Q&A, classification, reasoning tasks.Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate multi-step reasoning.Excellent written communication and attention to detail.Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.Role DetailsPart-time: 20 hours per week with flexible scheduling.100% remote and asynchronous — work from anywhere.Compensation & LegalContractor position via Mercor, paid hourly.Competitive rates based on expertise: $20–$30/hour.Weekly payments processed securely through Stripe Connect.About Mercor Mercor is a San Francisco–based company specializing in connecting elite professionals with cutting-edge AI initiatives.
