Business Development Executive

The Business Development Executive at Calculus Carbon will be responsible for identifying and pursuing strategic partnerships with project developers and investors in the climate financing sector. The role involves engaging potential project developers, understanding their portfolio of NBS projects, and positioning Calculus Carbon as a key partner in raising funds for their projects via the sale of carbon credits. This role demands a proactive approach to sales, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of the climate financing landscape. The ideal candidate will have experience in all stages of the sales cycle. They should be confident with building new client relationship and maintaining existing ones. They should have evidence of strong skills and possess good negotiation skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Engagement: Reach out to project developers to explore early stage, large-scale NBS projects that fit the investment mandate of our client funds. Build relationships with prospective clients, while maintaining consistent contact with existing clients
Present Calculus Carbon’s financing solutions, focusing on how our client funds can finance NBS projects through carbon credit sales.
Foster relationships with investors in the climate finance sector, ensuring a deep understanding of their requirement.
Sales Strategy & Execution: Develop and implement a sales strategy that aligns with Calculus Carbon’s goals. Track metrics to ensure targets are hit
Manage the entire sales cycle, from project scouting to deal closure, ensuring seamless execution for all parties involved.
Pipeline & Project Management: Maintain and update a pipeline of NBS projects across various geographies.
Match project opportunities with investor requirements and strategic goals.
Regularly track and update the pipeline, ensuring that all opportunities are aligned with the strategic goals of Calculus Carbon.
Investment Thesis Alignment: Understand and align with the investment theses of major players making large-scale investment in NBS projects.
Tailor proposals and engagement strategies to meet the specific needs of investors.
Reporting & Performance Tracking: Monitor sales performance and report regularly to the leadership team.
Utilize software and tools to manage the client relationships and ensure all interactions are documented and followed up effectively.
Qualifications and Experience:
Must really enjoy building relationships and derive energy from consistently engaging with new people
MBA from a Tier 1 Institute (IIM A/B/C/K/L) only with an experience of 1-2 years in Business Development/Sales or B.Tech/Dual from a Tier 1 Institute (Top 7 IITs) with an experience of 3-4 years in Business Development/Sales
Experience must be in business development, sales, or client engagement. Having experience within the sustainability, environmental, or climate finance sector is a plus.
Proven track record of successfully closing deals and establishing partnerships.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage senior-level stakeholders effectively.
Ability to work independently, with a proactive approach to identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
Experience in CRM to manage the sales funnel and pipeline, to be able to report on key metrics on weekly basis
Compensation
CTC- INR 20-25 lacs depending on fitment + lucrative Founding Team ESOPs
